What's the major difference between a Insight SSL-1 and a Streamlight TLR-1?

The price difference seems to be minimal.

This light might serve double duty on my AR and my Sig P226R.

IIRC, the Streamlight is actually made by Insight.

Biggest difference is the rail release - Lever-operated on the Insight, and twist-operated on the Streamlight. The reflector housing appears to be more rugged on the Streamlight.

I have the TLR-1, and really like it - Totally reliable, and surprisingly bright for a Luxeon.

Yes, but how often do you ever need to do a "tactical flashlight changeout"? Personally, I'd rather have a weapon light that doesn't come off unless you really make a concerted effort to remove it.

BTW, here's a good price on the TLR-1. This company's customer service reputation isn't exactly golden, so proceed accordingly.

The Lever operated would probably be quicker to release right?

It is a little bit quicker and easier to operate. I prefer the SSL although the lights are similar. I don't own one but have handled one 2 or 3 times. They're nice!

if you do order from botac, call and make sure they have your product in stock to avoid months of hassle!
