I would like to know if you have a perfect light or does it lack in some ways but makes up for it in other ways. I would like to think that I have found the perfect light for myself it has 3 modes all very useful it also has a nice strong pocket clip and has a recessed clicky switch and the light is all titanium. To me these are all the features I need right now. I find myself looking for lights on here all the time but then I compare them to what I carry now and think is it any better than my light and so far the answer is no. This does not mean that my light is the best made it means it is the best for me that is why I will not get into brand names here just the features of a light and what makes it your perfect light to carry. I like my light to be simple and rugged that will hold up to years of use and look good doing it. If you don't like the appearance of you light are you less likely to carry it or as long as it does what it was designed for does appearance matter. I am just trying to see what some of you look for in your perfect light have you found it or are you still searching and if you are searching then what features are you searching for.

My light isn't perfect, but it's got MOST of what I need at a price-point I could afford. Single AA cell, forward clicky, nice floody beam with a decent amount of throw, and plenty of output with a simple 2 mode UI and a bezel down clip.

I got a flat A2 from leukos, with the strion lamp and aviatrix, to which I added the driver from a newer round A2, and it's been my EDC since. I have brighter lights, with longer runtimes, but that 2 stage tailcap and regulated Incan really make it a joy to use.

If I could, I'd run it on an 18650. Maybe a body tube that accomodates 2 18500s. Otherwise, it is perfect for me! Great throw with button fully pushed, great flood lightly pushed. Uber-low amber beam with a double tap. Most intuitive UI I've ever seen!

I've had my perfect light for a little over a year now and it's still my favorite, the Nautilus.

Extremely small size for a cr123 light, amazing efficiency on high and low levels, aesthetically pleasing, and very well built.

Like you, I also look around for other lights, seeing what's new, then compare them to what I have and can't seem to find anything better to fit my wants/needs.

Actually the more I look the more I want to get another Nautilus!

Perfect light for what? EDC? Power outages? Self defense? Home defense? Search and Rescue? Camping? Roadside emergencies?

I doubt one light can do all those.

I guess you have not found one yet if you need a light to cover all those categories I am sure there is one out there it might not fit in your pocket though. My light covers 6 out of your 7 but Search and Rescue I would need a few more lumens.

As with all tools, lights also suffer from specialization syndrome. (Like knives, for example.) So far for me, I tend to use 1xCR123A primary battery powered lights with multiple light levels. These are my go-to lights. 1xAAA lithium primary powered lights with multiple levels are a close second.
I have about a dozen that come close to perfect, but all fall short.
I'll conclude by quoting an old TV series title. I'm still..."In Search Of..."

For EDC? For all around use, I freaking love my D10. I wish it had a bit more throw, and I would love to have a few more lumens. Other than that, it is pretty much perfect for me.

Yup, bought my perfect EDC light and now I'm done, at least buying EDCs.

Quark AA^2 Q3-5A

Plenty of modes, including moonlight mode
+Great price
+Long runtime, great output
+Great UI for me
+10 year warranty
+Great battery solution for me

= End of story.

My Zebralight H501 is the perfect light for me for up-close tasks. A headlamp that can be used hand-free as a desk lamp, overhead light, shirt light, task light, belt light, and lanyard light. It almost makes my other lights irrelevant.

Nope... the perfect light does not exist. I can find at least 2-3 dislikes with any light I have ever used, including some of my own personal favorites.

The thread is "your perfect" not "the perfect" :naughty:

No, not yet... You know anyone who makes this?

Try making it yourself. The Force will guide you.

I haven't found a perfect light for me yet, but i've come close with combo's of two. There are still some missing from my collection ie a SAR type, a dive light (or light which will stand up to it :) )

I'd say the Spy Tri-V would cover needs for most people, if you've got the cash to splash. Until the time comes when I do have that amount lying spare, I'll be happy to buy new lights to fill the gaps :)

Nope, I haven't found my perfect light yet either. I have found several lights that when all put together suit my needs perfectly as a group though. But as far as finding "the one," I'm still looking.

I disagree with the above statement. IMO, when it comes to flashlights, a jack of all trades is a master of none. For SD and HD I would want nothing but a single mode, high output light, that is big enough to get a firm grip on. A non-SD EDC should have several easily accessible modes, and be relatively small. For power outages, camping, and roadside emergencies I would prefer lower output and long runtime.

Almost.
Nitecore d10 gets close to perfect for my use but it would be nice if 1 or 2 settings could be programmed. That sounds like the RA clicky I've read so much about but proper tailstanding is a must have..

For me it would be the LF2XT made for 18650 battery ..............

Now if they'd just go on and make it .........

I'm still waiting ....................................
