This is my fastest-built custom project yet!
Okay, I admit it's just for testing. A group of us are going to the Indianapolis 500 again this year, and the go-kart we use for local transport needs a headlight. Driving down the shoulder after dark last year was a little scary. Riding on the trailer was truly terrifying. This should help.
After considering a custom LED build, I figured that an actual driving light would be better. Because we'll have 2 paralleled UPS batteries (12V, 7AH) for this, runtime won't be a problem with a 55W bulb. Finding the Hella Optilux 1500 kit for $20 was the final decider.
The quantity of light smokes my ROP high, the beam pattern wins for headlight usage, and the 1500's size is perfect for a go-kart. Very happy so far!
I'll get some pictures up after everything is finalized. This will be a few weeks, since we're still building a new trailer to carry a keg. We'll be sure to buy light beer...
