Hi all..

After looking around at the custom builds here I noticed people creating good pin spots using a single aspheric glass element. I went through junk collection and found a 40-50mm dia glass element with a focusing assembly. I tested it with my brightest led on hand (an original luxeon) and found that it produces a nice sharp and bright circle with the led being only a couple of inches from the element! So to make a bright spotlight with this I need to choose the LED.

I guess that I need a single die (multiple dies / leds could produce a strange projection?)

Is the cree XP-G R5 the best bet?

I have the space for batteries so i'd love to play with the small bridgelux or similar but don't want multiple spots
