I am not sure how this happened but for some reason I can not get my SF-A2 to twist-ON the incan lamp. This light is used but not abused, I've only dropped it once onto padded carpet, and I can't physically see anything wrong with the tailcap or body tube.

When I screw the tailcap all the way down, the incan does not turn on, and the momentary switch has not fully seated against the body tube. With the cap tightened down 100%, I can still depress the momentary button and manually activate the incan lamp.

I have used 99% isopropyl alcohol to clean the threads and the critical parts are free of gunk and debris. It is an intermittent problem, I can get it to work sometimes.

Hopefully its a simple fix:confused:

Try new batteries before anything else. Fixed my A2 when it did the same thing.

I'm going to have to agree, try new batteries. If that doesn't work...

Take a look inside the tailcap. Along the circumference of the black plastic ring surrounding the spring there are three metal tabs (or "leaves"). If you see any missing that could be the problem. It seems to be a frequent issue because it's happened to me a couple times.

If you have another A2 you can test your light by using another tailcap. If it works you'll know for sure it's the TC.

+1

No where in your post did I note any reference to the batteries, their resting voltage OR if in fact this issue happens with new cells as well... alternatively you can manually bridge the tail thread to the negative base of the (second) paired CR123a to fire it up as a test ONLY :D
