Spencer makes a valid point. If you plan on using different batteries in different devices and you want to charge them together, then the Maha C9000 makes sense and from what I gather, is a very good charger.
Let me address hobby chargers. I have a Triton2....nice hobby charger, has served my very, very well for the past couple of years. I charge NiCd, NiMH, and Emoli batteries with it. Ops, I have charge some lead acid types to with it, but not all the time like I do with the other types.
I was fortunate enought to have an actual Voltcraft 4 place battery holder that has the ability to charge one or 4 batteries at a time as long as they are AAA, AA, C, or D.
As I have grown here, I have started putting charging jacks on my flashlights and also us battery holders from Fivemega that have the built in charging jack. I find myself getting lazy and really enjoy just plugging in a light versus taking all the batteries out and charging them in groups of 4 or whatever. You really need to look towards this way of doing things if you are going to get serious into this hobby.
Now, why NOT to get a Triton2......what you say? You have one....and you say you love it? What's wrong with it? Capacity.......I tried to charge a full battery pack full of Emoli's up....28 fun filled volts of DC power. Sorry, with a Triton2, you can only go to 18VDC. Out of luck.
Only after 2 years have I come to this place where I have out grown my beautiful charger. But only once. I broke the battery pack up like they would be installed into flashlights and I can charge them up.
So my words of advice are, look to a hobby charger that can go up to or over 28 volts for li-ion types, something that can do A123 (another excellent lithium safe battery), and massive amounts of NiCd and NiMH batteries. You will have to look here or do a good seach of this forum to find or research those "excellent" hobby chargers. I would rate mine as "very, very good". This will cost you some bucks, be prepared, but what it will save in the long run will be worth it.
Finally, you need both......maybe not the full bore C9000, unless you can afford both, but you need that small charger for when you need a small charger. I think all of us who have hobby chargers also have a smaller charger hanging around, just incase we need it.
