Ok I've got a Tiablo A9 with the aspheric lens. That thing already throws quite a lot, as I demonstrated in another thread of mine:
http://www.candlepowerforums.com/vb/showthread.php?t=239376
Since I am quite a fan of Aspherical lights, I decided to "upgrade" the A9.
That is why I took the aspherical lens from a headlamp of a Fiat "SUV" (not really a suv, is more of a people carrier), and fitted it onto the head of the A9, with a very non-professional method...
I am not a real modder and I didn't do a great job, in terms of finish, materials used and precision/quality... I just created a host for the lens to be screwed in the A9 aspherical bezel... it's all made of plastic and Duck-Tape...
BUT the result is quite impressive. I believe that the lens I used is the same size as the one used in the DEFT. Afterall, there are few producers out there in the automotive industry: Valeo, Bosch... and the lens used in the DEFT is from a Subaru SVX Headlamp... and it seems the same size.
The nice thing is that I can screw/unscrew the new homemade head to make the beam more or less "spotty"...
The picure of the light, and a comparison between the stock lens and my lens.
Here is the result of my work...
I did a comparison with the A9 with standard Aspherical and a DBS R2 for reference (the same that you can find in my other thread http://www.candlepowerforums.com/vb/showthread.php?t=239376 that I will update with some new lights - SEE THIS THREAD FOR A CONTROL SHOT)
Target tree is 60 meters away, camera set at ISO200, F2.8, 1" exposure.
First up is the DBS R2

Then we have my Custom "TrollerAspheric" with the head very loose (flood beam)
Then we have the stock A9 Aspherical
Finally my Custom "TrollerAspheric" with the head tightened for max throw
Nice one eh?
I am currently in the list for the DEFT... and I want one, also to see how much it will beat my little creation... the DEFT has got an R2, while this can only count on a Q5, and then the quality construction here is very poor.
But still, I am satisfied
Thanks for looking!
