No, not a new flashlight. A blackout!

Last night there was tornado warnings around Nashville, TN, and I live in a small town near it. Anyways, the storm never came directly at me, we got indirect stuff, so wind wasn't as bad as it could of been, but with lots of rain and terrible visibility. Well, some poor soul was still out driving and he must of not had his wiper on, or the rain was just overwhelming them, OR he was intoxicated.. Or all of the above, but he slammed into a transformer a few houses down. Needless to say, power was down till morning. So out comes (Part of) my collection.

Acro X990 for kitchen-living room bounce.
Novatac 120P traveled around with me.
Beast II ready for LED use in bathrooms
Maxa-beam if outside stuff was needed. (It wasn't, sadly. I did get some odd looks from people watching the storm when I fired it up outside, though, haha.)
And a laptop fer' entertainment purposes. (Mainly salivating at Surefire's upcoming Ultramax series.)

But it started to get late, so my Novatac accompanied my through the night, and the others were turned off. Power was on in the morn', sadly. Fun while it lasted!

Nice set of lights! Some overkill too. :)

Glad you made it out without any damage. Some of Georgia got hammered!

I have a pretty large living room and kitchen and they're not divided, so the Acro wasn't that bad of overkill when bounced.

Wow, you have a Beast II, the greatest production light in existence!
How does it compare to the x990 and the Maxabeam?

I can see why it was exciting to use your lights during the blackout, your neighbors must have thought you have a back-up generator!

While the Beast II is certainly is an excellent production light, I would not call it the "greatest" production light in existence. I believe there are others that are every bit as great as the beast, maybe even "greater" depending upon the users criteria.

Yes, I even have an eel-skin holster for it!

But anyways. It's putting out about the same as the Acro, it seems, but maybe a bit floodier than the Acro when it's on flood. Magnitudes floodier than the Maxabeam, but still useful, especially outside. I chose it because 30 hours of runtime on the LEDS is very handy. In fact, most of that light's time is spent on LEDs.

Hi BVH!

Yes, lights like the BarnBurner and the Megaray are on par with the Beast II, but I have always liked the Beast II and have been under the impression that it is the best.

How interesting the Beast II puts out the same amount of light as the Acro 990, I have always wondered how the two compare.

The BarnBurner's not really production. You're right, though, it blows the Beast out of the water.

I strongly dislike the Megaray's looks, and beam. It's a good light, just not my favorite.

I'm a diehard Surefire fan, and I love HIDs as compact as the Beast, so it's pretty much my favorite light, along with the Acro and Maxabeam.

I have a feeling all of those are gonna be dethroned when the Ultramax series comes out, though. o.o

It sounds odd, but it actually looks that way.

What does it look like when you shine the Maxabeam on the ceiling when it's on high power and tight focus?

If you shine the Maxabeam and the Acro 990 on a wall at the same time, which one has a brighter hotspot?

I've never tried it, I'm afraid my eyes would set on fire.

The Maxabeam.
