I'm going to replace my broken Fenix L2D Cree 7090 XR-E LED with the Maratac 9290 AA.

its basically same as iTP c7. and yeah.. i like my itp alot.. got myself the c8 (2aa) tactical first..and then got the c7 body to it..

now its still one of my most used in "around the house" tasks flashlight.. most used right after one of my itp eoses. (eos is just so small to carry around in a pocket) the c7 is very cool ramp up and down and on steady pace (much better than my nitecores) and the low is low enough to use in darkness without hurting your eyes.

so the maratac is not a bad choice.

one thing i would like to see in itp/maratacs.. warmer tints also as options. im thinking about led-swap on mine.. but the head is SO tight i will likely break it when i try to open it.

what happened to your L2D Cree?If it is emitter issue just swap it i have done many some of them with XPG R5 and it is a wonderful flood light with the xpg.

Nope, not a emitter issue at all.

More like the circuit board snapped out the head of the flashlight when I turned to open the head to take out the batteries.

:shakehead

I really liked that flashlight too.

:ohgeez:

Thanks for the information on the light.

For me, I really liked how you can get 6 lumes to do tasks that you need alittle light without the light reflexing.

And, 190 lumes to do tasks where you want to light up a whole room or outside.

This new Maratac 9290 AA will out perform my Fenix L2D Cree 7090 XR-E LED because the lowest lumes on Fenix is 9 lumes and the highest lumes is 135 lumes.

I can't wait to see the 190 lumes.

That sounds bizarre... :duh2:

Any chance it is still under warranty? You might want to contact Fenix regardless. That kind of failure sounds very unusual and hopefully they would want to help seeing as it isn't a typical wear & tear issue.

Also, any pics of the damage/problem? There's always a chance it can be fixed! I'd be up for working on it, but there would probably be someone closer to you who could help.

can you describe the swaping shortly? i know how to solder, but the xpg looks so tiny...

A word of caution.

I have the iTP C7T with 8 body.

The 190 lumens advertised is with 2.4v and up configurations. (2AA or CR123/16340)
The 1xAA C7/Maratac9290 will not get up to these levels unless you use a 3v+ source like a 14500.

The only objection I have for the light is when used as a general torch and non in the tactical role.
It takes long to switch modes and the beam hotspot is very tight and narrow.
The spill almost seems dim because the hot spot is so intense.
Running 3.7v or even 2.4v will see a lot brighter spill and it really comes alive.

Saying all this I really like the C7T when used with a firearm. Its an awesome little tool. Not as small as the others but great to hold and use because of the beam profile and shape of the body.
