Improve waterproofing with Teflon tape?

Anyone ever tried this? What were the results? Is teflon tape a thermal conductor or insulator?

Wouldn't teflon tape make the threads much harder to twist?

It seems much too thick to use in an application like flashlights. It may make the light be permanently stuck.

FWIW Teflon is an exceptional thermal and electrical insulator, I sure wouldn't want to have it in a system that relies on electrical conduction across mating thread surfaces.

As long as the threads aren't electrical, just use a light coat, one wrap and you should be fine. And i wouldn't use it on anything twisty, it'll just shred.

It does make it harder to twist but you have to use ALOT of it. I have it on the threads of my Malkoff Mag to "Lock" the focus in place. Bit I had to wrap it about 10 - 15 times before there was enough resistance that I felt it wasn't going to move if it was bumped.
