why cant i combine two diffrent type of batteries in my makeshift battery holder if they have the ssame chemicals?? for instance, a 12v A23 and a 1.5v AAA? ther both alkaline. imagine =a 13.5 volts with 455mah. right?

One cell will go dead long before the other. The A23 cell is pretty small cell that is I think several cells together in series in one outer shell. I have one in my garage door opener and I remember the battery is even smaller than an N cell. This will lead to uneven battery performance, leaking, and in the case of other more volatile chemistries like lithium, explosions.

because you also have to pair internal resistance, impedance, and capacity

Same thing basically when talking about flashlights. We probably don't need to worry about alternating current for the most part. But internal resistance is an important thing that I didn't mention in my original post.

Re: battery dating

thanks yall, thanks ampdude. internal resistance... okay. yeah that makes sense. i wish they made a halogen lamp or bulb that operated off of a single AAA.

They do, but' they're very dim. A photon micro-light would blow it away (unless you're talking about 10400 Li-ion).
