Is the cree R2 the brightest of the affordable p60 drop ins? Do they get hot after continuous usage? How do they perform in a G2 nitrolon with aluminum head?

it depends on how the led is driven, if its only at 600ma, then a Q5 at 1.2A (Dereelight) is probably brighter

most P60 modules get hot after a while

if a Non Led G2, use common sense.

from what i've read... most of the cheap R2 droppins are about the same as Q5's or some even require higher voltage 9v+ to run brighter...try doing a search...theres a fair few threads comparing all the cheap droppins

I have read a number of post about the DX/KD cree R2 p60 drop in but I have not seen any beam shots.

Yes, if I bought it, I would run it in a SF 6PD and a SF G2L not an all nitrolon SF G2.

Theres only a couple that I am aware of... DX and Solarforce. The DX one I bought delivers about .95A to the emitter. Not sure how that compares to the solarforce module , or a Q5 driven at a higher current.

You'd need to get them all together at once, loaded in similar hosts identical battery configurations... and let em' duke it out. I'm starting to think how the emitter is driven is just as important as the emitter bin.
