I'm trying to decide whether to save my money until I can afford a Jetbeam RRT-0 or purchase a 1xCR123 body for my Quark 2AA Turbo.:broke:

Jetbeam advertises 240 lumens vs. Quark's 206 (OTF) lumens. Is the Jetbem measured at the emitter or OTF like the Quark?

I prefer throw over flood in my brighter lights (I currently EDC a Maratac AAA SST).

I really like the UI of the Jetbeam as well as it is a sweet looking light!

Any input would be appreciated.

Re: Jetbeam RRT-0 or CR123 Turbo?

I've used my one of my Turbo Quarks with a 1x123 body and have to say it's rather ungainly looking and difficult to hold.

I don't own an RRT0 but it's a teensy torch and I don't really see it throwing much further than the Turbo. And it's a reverse click, yuk...............

Re: Jetbeam RRT-0 or CR123 Turbo?

The RRT-0 throws very well and the selector ring is really nice. The E1B use to be my favorite pocket light but my RRT-0 is starting to take it's place. It's as bright as many of my cr123x2 lights and has a nice forward switch.

You can also order a AA extender tube and run 14500 or AA if you want.

I have both and no question the Jetbeam is my favorite.

1. Mine is FORWARD clicky with a super simple selector ring.
2. I like having both a smooth reflector and an OP reflector to switch with for throw or smoother beam
3. Fit and finish is superb and all around a way cooler light.

My Quark has taken a beating and still works just fine as well but is nothing special...

I don't own a Quark, but I carry my JETBeam RRT-0 with me every day. One of the best little 123 lights I have ever had. You can take a look at my overview thread of the RRT-0 here. Mine came with a smooth reflector which gave it really nice throw, but a ringy beam. I put the OP reflector in it and it smoothed it out very nicely. The other nice thing about it is that it also takes AA sized batteries with the extender.

The RRT-0 is a forward clicky light. Here's a couple pictures...

Tough call Imo.

If it were a question of which to buy I would probably say the the jetbeam, but I feel like maybe you should just get the extension tube and save that money for some other totally different light.

The RRT-0 throws well for a little bitty pocket light. But I was very dissapointed with it. Mine made 8000 lux at 1 meter. My Lumapower D-mini was 18,000. The Ray D1 does 20,000+ Lux. The D-mini VX Ultra does 8000, but it has 500 lumens and a huge hotspot compared to the RRT-0. They have slightly larger heads, but well worth it in my opinion. You really have to think of it as a little pocket light (even though it's bigger than most pocket lights), and not expect much throw. Otherwise you'll be very dissapointed.

another vote for the RRT-0. its selector ring makes it easy, fun and fast to change outputs, and also conserves battery power easily. it looks great, can tailstand great. very throwy for such a small light. its my current edc, and dont see any other single cr123a lights that can compare. i paid about $90 for mine, and dont regret it at all. the quark is a great light, but the RRT-0 is such a joy to use.

mine is a forward clicky, although its not as responsive, and sensitive as most foward clickies. (creating strobe is not easy with my RRT-0), i have the OP reflector and cree rings are definitely present. but these are the only 2 complaints i have, everything else about the light is superb. the RRT-0 almost compares to my olight m20 R2 in terms of throw and output.

I vote for the quark. Lower low and higher high, more efficient, and better beam. Also the battry tube is much cheaper :)
I like the look and feel of my turbo with 1x123 body.
Jetbeam-lumens are calculated emitter-lumens.

I'm not sure how you could be disapointed with 8000 lux with a single cell 123 pocket light. My RRT-0 out throws any single cell cr123 or 14500 I own and for that matter it out throws many 2xcr123 lights I have. I do want to look into the D-mini but I suspect it has a far more narrower spill area, that is just a guess due to the larger reflector but I could be wrong. You also have to consider we are talking pocket lights and even though the D-mini is small the head is larger and in pants pocket that could be a big deal to some. The extra length of the RRT-0 from the selector ring is not a problem for me considering how well the ring works and it's still the same size as a E1B or E1L. Fit and finish is right on par with my Surefire lights I have tried hard to find any faults with this light but really have not found much to complain about.

I guess the only minor complaint is even with the OP reflector installed their is still a dark ring around the hot spot but it's not that bad so I would suggest if your considering one to get the OP reflector installed, when I bought it from bugoutgear I asked they ship me one with the OP reflector installed.

So in short IMO anyone considering getting a RRT-0 go ahead and do it I find it to be right at the very top of the list for a single cell pocket light. I have many different 123 and 14500 single cell lights and this is the one I always choose to carry. The throw is wonderful and the amount of bright spill is very adequate.

Definitely go with the RRT-0, battery options alone with the extender make it a great light. I grab mine for EDC before many of my other lights. I liked the RRT-0 so much I thought "like a true flashaholic" that it needs company so I got a RRT-2, then I felt the two needed another brother so I got the RRT-1.. Jet beams are addictive in them selfs...

Cheers

Brian

Both are good flashlights. The Quark 123 has two drawbacks for me that make the RRT-0 the preferred light.

The standard Quark lights have a pre-flash that is annoying, and there is no decent diffusor that I have found that fits them (the Quark Prism can serve as a diffusor, but I find it awkward to use - would be nice if an equivalent non-angle unit were made available).

The original RRT-0 lights also had a random pre-flash, but that was eliminated in the more recent (second batch) units. The F04 diffusor securely fits on the RRT-0. The low low setting of the RRT-0 could be a bit lower, but as is it does not seem to bother night adapted vision, especially when using the F04.

The RRT-0 is pretty cool, but I question the durability of the design. Anyone really abuse one?

FWIW, I have dropped mine on the sidewalk twice from waist height, other than a few scratches and dings, no issues...

Ive been admiring the that Jetbeam for quite a while.
My only concern is the selector ring. I would not want it to get too lose. I've read about that happening and others that were fine.

HEY I just tried my Quark Turbo2 CR123 head on my Quark 123. It looks GREAT yet is alot dimmer than with the Quark 123 head.
Would the AA version of the Turbo force head work/fit on the Quark single CR123????

I just CALLED 4 Sevens on the phone, SPOKE to a live person, Alfonso (good guy) and just got the good news! The Quark 2AA Turbo head WILL fit /work with the Quark single 123 body. maybe I'll lego a completely new light like my 18650 Quark Turbo/ or RGB!

Yes, the AA2 Turbo will get full brightness with a single 123 cell. Just for note, if you don't want to buy a whole nuther head, your 2-123 Turbo head will also get full brightness is you replace the primary 123 with a rechargeable li-ion 123 cell.

WOW! Thanks!! That's is incredible info!!
how cool at no cost!!. I'm hooked on this lego version and dont want to canabilize my warm white Quark CR123 for the tube and end cap so
I'll still order the additional CR123 tube and Turbo end cap.

OK I see a much brighter beam on RCR123 than a CR123.
Does the Quark 2 CR123 turbo head on a single RCR123 have the same run time as the 2AA head? and would the RCR123 be any different that a CR123 ??
THANKS AGAIN FOR THE INFO :twothumbs
