Can anyone with an E1L with KX1B head measure the current draw so we can compare it with the current draw on the E1L with KX1 head?
Is there a difference between the Kx1B found in the recent E1L as opposed to the one found in E2L AA?
Thanks Bill for explaining the difference between KX1 and KX1B.
The KX1B traditionally found in E2L AA is also observed with the current E1L. My question was, is the KX1B found in the E2L AA any different from the KX1B found in the recent E1L?

I doubt it. I would assume Surefire would have a different model number if it had different internals for different voltages. Since 1 primary = 3 volts, and 2xAA = 3 volts, it is probably the same exact head on the E2L-AA and E1L.
I just got an E1L cheap from LA Policegear. The box indicated the 3/45 lumen model but the light had an KX1B head. This kind of bummed me out as I have been really trying hard to get the KX1 head. I really wanted the 4 hour runtime on high...
I have as well E1L and E2L AA. E1L came with KX1 head and E2L AA with KX1B head. Don't really know the difference because the brightness is EXACTLY the same(measured with light meter), definitely closer to 80lm than 45lm.
But KX1 head has slightly warmer tint(propably due to tint lottery) so I tried it with E2L AA. Then it was some flickering issue however, so I changed it back.
I measured 3h 30m practically stable output(~90%) with E1L and KX1 head and 75% output until 4 hours, so I guess it should be the same with KX1B head.
Surefire brightness statements sometimes are misleading. My E2L is claimed as 45lm on the package, 60lm in the specifications, but I measured it has around 100 true lumens...
Yes; E2L is brighter than E2L AA(and almost half of E2DL), despite the specification tells the opposite!
