I tried searching for some information on the kodak precharged AA batteries but couldn't find much. I am wondering how they compare to eneloops or rayovac hybrids. Has anyone figured out who manufactures kodaks lsd batteries? thanks

Hi there,

I can report that i bought a pack of 4 back on 5/14/2007.
I charged them up the same day, and then measured voltages
later:

on 05/14/2007 all cells were fully charged, voltages not measured.
on 06/11/2007 all cells read about 1.32 volts
on 07/15/2007 all cells read between 1.30 to 1.31 volts.

This is of course with no load and average temperature about 80 degrees.

Thus after two months they seem like they still have plenty of life
in them, but i'll know more in the future after more tests.

I have a pack of these I use in a lightly used mp3 chair(it was cheap ok). It's suspected these might come from the same factory as the Hybrids. I know running them through a few cycles on my C9000 produced Hybrid like results. All cells tested between 2050-2150. Mine seem to be a hair fatter than my Hybrids, I have an older AA Mag that Hybrids will fit in and these Kodak's will not. I've only charged them once at the beginning of summer and have used the chair sporadically since then. For giggles I pulled them out and they currently measure about 1.29v, so they seem to be holding up ok.

Just purchased these tonight. Two measured 1.30v, and two measured 1.31v out of the pack. I then discharged, and got the following capacities:

1 - 1693
2 - 1724
3 - 1707
4 - 1672

This is the out of pack capacity. I have recharged them, and I'm in the process of discharging again. Will update with my results. As for who makes them. I only have hybrids, and the kodaks so far, and i can verify that theyre NOT the same. The wrapper doesen't fit the same way and the positive end is different. Maybe they're the same as the Uniross Hybrio, but I havent seen a close enough pic to tell.

Wal-Mart carries them, they're cheaper and should be atleast as good as the Rayovac Hybrids. Why not pick up a pack? I had to go to 3 different wal-marts over a few days to find them though, so if your local one doesen't carry them, you may want to do site-to-store, or "find stores" from their web site, to make sure theyre in stock.

I am now sold on Low Self-Discharge batteries, and will probably not buy high capacity batteries again. LSD voltage, and cell-to-cell capacity is a lot more consistent, even in the cheaper brands, than most normal NiMH cells.

Hi there,

I had complained ever since i bought my first pack of NiMH cells.
They seem to through any old cell in with a pack of 4 to sell three
somewhat good ones and get rid of one bad one.

Now with the LSD type cells i cant complain, and i am glad about that :)

UPDATE: First Charge/Discharge Cycle results with C-9000:

Charge at 1amp, allowed to cool, top off charge at 500mah, discharge 1amp...

1946, 1987, 1940, 1936

Not too bad considering a 1 amp discharge. 500mah probably would have come in within spec.

I've purchased a couple packs of the Kodak Pre-Charged NiMH from the local Wal*Mart, and so far, have been happy with their performance.

For $7.88 a 4-pack, they seem like a bargain.

And yes, their diameter is a tiny bit wider, but that helps to remedy annoying "battery rattle" in some lights.

Only time will tell how they fare...

I purchased my first set of 4 about 2 months ago. Nimh aa's were always dead when I needed my digital camera. The Kodaks have held up significantly better,(as you'ld expect). I don't have test data to back up my impression, just a usable camera anytime I pick it up. I use a Vanson Speedybox to charge. Mine also will not fit into any of my minimags. They will, however fit 4 wide in an old style D mag.:naughty:
