L2D CE Switch question

Hey all, I'm Jason and I'm new to the site. I am about to purchase an L2D CE and I've read the review on flashlightreviews.com and I'm not completely sure how the switch works. He says to "lightly press." Does this mean the switch is like a digital camera shutter button where it can be halfway depressed and then fully depressed? My next question is, if for example I'm on the med. output setting in general mode, do I have to cycle through high and strobe to turn it off or can I fully depress the switch to turn it off from the medium level?

Had some questions and figured this would be the best place to find the answers!
Thanks
Jason

Yes, halfway depressing is for shifting to next mode.

warren,

Welcome to CPF! Yes the switch is similar in operation to a digicam button, jast a light touch & the light changes levels. You can turn the light off any time, just press the switch all the way in. I think it is a great interface. Enjoy your new light, I love my L1d-CE.

Welcome to CPF!!

I don't have one of these yet, but most multi-level lights like this require a full press to turn on and then half presses to change levels. Then another full press to turn off.

Another welcome. What everyone said, but also that when you depress the clickie all the way and leave it off for two seconds, it is reset to the default when you turn it back on. That means that you can't keep your setting at the previous one, e.g. when on high and turned off/on you get the low setting again and have to do two quick half presses to get back to high again. That's why people mention leaving the head twisted to turbo mode and then you're automatically in turbo when you depress the clickie.

Having said all that, medium is the default for normal mode and it's excellent for most uses. (edit) Oops, that's for the lod-ce, which is also great. It's low-medium--high for the l2d-ce. I would prefer it to come on in medium because it is the most useful all around setting--minor quibble. I've had my l2d-ce for a couple of weeks now and love it.

Thanks for the welcomes and the quick replies. Switch sounds good. Sounds like the UI will be great. I currently have the Nuwai TM-301X-3 and for the most part i use the low level (mostly because i feel guilty sucking the life out of those harder to come by 123a's) so it'll be nice to have low with one click and be able to turn off without having to cycle through other levels. However now that we're running on cheap and available AA's, I may be running that Turbo mode alot more. :D
