LED Lenser P5R (200 lumen li-ion version)

I just received an email from an associate at LED Lenser regarding the release date of this torch. His response was as follows:
"Dear Sirs,

the P5R is in stock for 10/2009.

Best regards

Sven Höft
(Verkauf Ausland)"

I guess we have to wait until October =( Unless of course someone has tried a 14500 cell in a P5? ;-)

Ive always wondered if any better drivers would be able to fit in the P5. Maybe 100+ lumens max and 1 or 2 low modes would be great!

But i dont want to risk ruining a perfectly good light yet...

I just got a P5 and the Curiosity Demon bit hard, i couldnt resist it and popped in a 14500 that i had lying around fully charged. So, i gently depressed the tailcap clicky and .....

BRIGHT!!!!! (but only for a millisecond)

Oh no! Thought I, i have my P5!! Woe is me.

Another momentary 1/2 click...... BRIGHT!! AGAIN!!! then all was dark.

Bit the proverbial bullet, did a full click, millisecond BRIGHT then dark.

Slipped out the 14500, replaced with 25000 mAh, 1.2v nimh cell and everything was as it should be.

it's going to be a long wait till October, wonder if the P5R will run like the P5 on nimh but output will be increased when running 14500s

I wish they would come out with an 18650 multi mode version.

i thought i saw some new coast lights offered in the sportsmans guide, but they weren't out till june.
