I know this has probably been covered numerous times before but being a noob all the info becomes overwhelming....
Am looking at picking up a LEEF body to use as an E0-9, H0-9, P-91 host and this will be my first go with rechargables..
I was going to go with the 18650 body, but in all honesty I think I would use it more if it was smaller so am thinking about going with the 18500 size body ( 2 cell) or 3-123's. They only have two sizes in stock..
Will the 18500's work o.k for this setup, and what is the difference between the 18500's and the 18650's?

Yeah, 2x 18500 will work. The difference between them and 18650 is size and capacity 18500 is 1 and 1/2 the length of cr123 and is about 1700mah (I think) and 18650 is twice the length of cr123 and about 2200mah (Again this is off the top of my head, I could be wrong). Both cells are about a millimeter wider than cr123s thats why you'd need a leef or a bored body. Cell capacity is important, especailly with l-ion and incan lamps. Because High ouput incan lamps draw a lot of amps and l-ion has a very low discharge rate (2c or so)
dicharge rate x capacity = max amp draw. draw to much current from your batteries and they'll be ruined.

I guess I should have done a little more searchin after I woke up.

Seems now I can find all kinds of referrence to 2 -18500's with the E0-9 and P-91. Sounds like it works fine.

Thanks for the explanation on the differences between the 18500's and the 18650's, I appreciate it...

It was so easy just puttin in some new 123's but it really is fun learning about all the different possibilities.
I can build race cars, engines, guns and do a lot of other things. But when it come to anything to do with electricity I don't understand any of it. Other than I like lots of light :)

I remember my first days here. Everyone was saying stuff like "fresh fish" "new meat" "Don't drop the soap". But then I started lifting weights and going to church and everyone left me alone. Just kidding. I asked some of the same questions when I started posting here, nearly verbatim. Just keep asking questions, no ones going to call you a newb or pretend to be mad l33t or anything. Also you might want to check out some of mdocod's or luxluthor's postings in the interest section. Those have been of particular help to me.

I use 2 x 18500's running a HO-9 in a Leaf body for a late shift light and it is an excellent light, lovely and white with a great hot spot, good throw and also enough spill.

I do have the EO-9 and play with it occasionally but the max run time without it getting the batteries too hot put me off using it at work where I may have no choice but to run lights longer than that.

I use a variety of C series SF tail switches on the Leaf body and all work very well.

Don't forget you will need to specify which head and tail threads you need it to have.

bagman has mentioned C-series tailswitches; with a P91 or EO-9 LA you will presumably be using something like a P9 or C3 head, so you need a C-series head thread. Therefore, you need a C-C LeefBody.

If you were using an MNxx LA in an M-series head (M3, M3T etc) you would need a C-tail and an M-thread head, so a C-M body.

Re-reading that, it doesn't sound as clear as I would like, but I hope it makes some sense.

It will definetely be a c-c body... I like the c-m body, just really prefer the smaller head(bezel) for general useage. Possibly the new style z32.
