I really like the versatility of the LF (2/3/4/5) series programming UI.
It would be even better if it could be implemented with a push button.

Would you like to se the LF series with a push button?
Or should they stick to the trusty twisty?

I understand that the standard reverse clickies will not work with the LF's UI.
Probably needs a 2-stage switch which is based on amount of travel of the switch.
For example, push in 2mm for P1 and a further 2mm for P2.

What are your thoughts and suggestions?

This is my idea (olight, fenix, LF combo).

Fenix switching via bezel is P1 and P2 ala LF (high and low). Rapid P1-2-1 (or 2-1-2) would be considered a SW (ala LF).

Rear switch will switch levels (reverse clicky best for this IMO).

So basic operation would be just like a fenix, but if you did SW, you could switch into LF mode and program the light.

There would be at least three modes: operation, strobe-sos, program.
Operation would be straight Fenix without strobe sos, so 2 directly accessable levels via the bezel. Soft tap gives other levels.
Strobe-Sos could be selected via P1/P2, with rear button the light level.
Program mode would allow you to program the levels of the operation mode.

With 4 states (p1/p2, on/off), there are other options. What do you think?

The P1-P2-P1-P2-P1 game is already a bit critical with a definite position of the two points. With a "push 2mm then push another 2mm and release by 2mm" in one second and do it for ten times without mistakes I am afraid it would become a nightmare.:(

I like better the idea of using the bezel for levels and programming (exactly like now, P1 and P2) and a rear switch just for on-off. It could be a single stage forward switch.

I have been thinking about this since I received my LF2 months ago.
First let me rant that I will not buy it if it comes with a standard POS reverse clickie. I don't need a light that will change modes or flicker if I breathe too heavily on the tailcap. Luckily LF used a forward clickie before on the LF1, so hopefully they'll do it again.
Now that's over with... the way I see it Liteflux could easily make a clickie tailcap with virtually no modification to its (complicated but nice) UI. All they need to do is remove the "zeroth" twistie position... aka the off position. The clickie switch will provide that function. You still switch moded by twisting the bezel, but you can choose to turn on in either p1 or p2. But this will make turning the light on more convenient as well as making the UI a bit easier to use imo. I still sometimes twist back just a bit too far and hit the zeroth position and mess up my count.
Another thing they could do is put some nicer grip machining on the head and body of the light which would aid in the twisting action. My little LF2 can be slippery in my sweaty palms. :sick2: But beyond that it is a wonderful EDC for those of us who enjoy a light that has every mode.

I have 3 LF1's, but the lack of a push button has kept me from purchasing any of the new Liteflux lights. I guess the twisty does keep them small though.......
