I've been living with the EX10 for a couple of days now. It is a good light. I hardly notice it as I EDC it. Very light. I stole another members idea of hooking the lanyard under my belt to make it easy to pull out of the pocket. The beam is nice, but has some CREE rings. I don't really view these as bad, just there. I like the UI quite a bit. Hi, Lo and a little slower to get anywhere in between. My only complaint at this point is the difficulty turning the bezel and pressing the button. I relubed these, which helped a lot. I suppose this is necessary due to the design and the desire to make water tight. The button especially is still kind of a pain. I can live with it. Another pain is that loosening the bezel alot makes the piston push easier(battery spring), but it is then suseptable to intermitant contact, which causes the UI to engage and give you low beam. Last thing you want in "tactical" mode!

Still, in my uneducated opinion a 5 star light.

Glad you are overall happy with your new EX10 NKS!!

Though the PD fervor has died down quite a bit and just like other electronic devices, the addicted are already looking for their next latest and greatest fix, The PDs are still good, solid reliable EDC tools and very well made for the price point. in fact they appear to be made just as well if not better than many lights costing 2-3 times as much. I also am having issues with turning the head on mine and a smaller/slimmer oring would definitley solve this , when I get a chance I will go to the local hardware store and see if they might have something.

You really shouldnt feel like you are "living with it" though since virtually every light out there has some "issues" or compromises and the NC PDs are just great simple 2 level lites that wont break the bank or fail when you need them most. with their size/weight they are easy to always have with you .

I keep feeling the urge to buy lights costing 3 times as much like the RA Clicky but the EX10 has none of the multiple "issues" that the RA is suffering from most of them being sloppy/shoddy work and QC issues on a light almost hitting $200 bucks. I look at my EX10 and the urge fades away.

Hi nksmfamjp,

I also have a EX10 and found this tip from member BabyDoc helpfull.

"Pay particular attention to the flat area surrounding the button on the top of the piston and its mating area inside the body tube. Use a Q-tip with alcohol to clean this area. Any sticky lube in those areas can cause problems with the piston sticking."

My EX10 responds better now.

Take care,
Robert.

I meant "living with it" as a positive. I have acceptable work arounds in place for any small issues I have. IMO, this is a great light.:grin2:

AAAhhhh!!! I see. I took it the wrong way since I always hear things like "Living with IBS" or things like that.

A good cleaning is a good idea when you first get one for sure. I also have stayed away from the Nyogels and such and have found good results with PTEF type liquid lubes as BabyDoc I believe also has

+1

Although my EX10 has been fine, this has been a problem with my D10 since I got it. Periodically cleaning it in this way makes it silky smooth. So does not over-lubing it, which I did. :shakehead

I've had mine for about a month. Since most everyone seems to replace the factory lube with something else, and then has problems, I tried leaving it as is. No problems to report. The pressure required to activate the light even seems to be slightly less with usage.

This is my absolute favorite casual (non work) carry light. It just seems to disappear in my pocket until needed. For work when I constantly need to use and then repocket my light I still prefer the Surefire E series light with KX2. The fact that it sticks up from my pocket makes it easier and quicker to use.

HaHA EDC3. The other one actually.
Some do seem to be ok with the original lube . I know the original blue stuff NC was using was pretty sticky crud. Maybe they have changed/upgraded?

Mine was used, so maybe the previous owner did some lube change. Frankly mine was dry compared to my G2 and other lights I've used. So, I added some dielectric grease from Auto Zone. Not a fancy lube, but good for o-rings and electric devices.

I cleaned up the tube and o-ring on my EX10 and tried some of the lube that I got with my LiteFlux lights and it seems to work pretty well giving a nice smooth action.
