Love the E2DL 200 lumen package - but not the crenelations...

I guess I'm one of those not-so-tactical folks who's more concerned that the impact bezel will impact the clothing far more than anything else. Or knowing me, it will end up poking its owner first rather than anybody else.

I'm looking to upgrade a L4-HA, and the KX2C doesn't come in HA green. Shallow I know, but the light at least needs to look consistent (not HA-BK on HA-nat).

The E2DL package is perfect - except for the crenelations. I want a smooth tailcap and smooth bezel.

I suppose I could buy a E2e-HABK (which were as rare as hens teeth a few years ago, glad to see they're a production item now) but that would set me back $105 + $135 for the KX2C - a whole $105 more than an E2DL. Yikes!

Ideally I'd like something in black, I love the U2's HABK. OD green is just so...... puke green.

What's a flashaholic to do? :(

Its not hard to grind down the strike bezel edges. I have seen others do it, an then polish the edge to a mirror shine. Looks nice too IMHO.

Cool, perhaps I might consider modifying it.

However, some bad news. I've been reading that the KX2C and the E2DL don't run in regulation on a single 17670 (which is my plan - CR123's are crazy expensive here). And even worse, some of them don't even fit 17670s. Did my older-generation SF's just become more valuable? All of them take 17670s no problem.

You can buy a Surefire E2E incandescent for around $79, and purchase a drop in from Steve Ku for $52.00. No mods needed, and you'll have an XP-G R5 at 25O Lumens OTF w/2 hr. run time on High for around $131.00 plus shipping

I have an E2D, and am awaiting the drop in. Can't wait, as the stock incandescent is 65 lumens :(

EDIT:
Cabelas had the light listed for $78.99 but when i checked the site, it was listed @ $104.99, and the E1E was listed at $78.99.
The old switcheroo to get you to their site I guess.

The black KX2C would look bad *** on a green body. Two tone black and green is where its at!

Look at a green G2L. They are way better looking than a standard G2.

If it makes you feel any better, I EDC the E2LD everyday on the belt, with well pressed, top shelf dress clothes, and never had an issue. I have caught myself on the knuckle with the bezel before however, and it wasn't fun.

Search toothless E2DL. M I K grinds the teeth off and refinishes the head to look like a factory issued head. He has done 3 heads for me. His work is outstanding and he is a great guy to deal with.

Good ideas all :)

Yup, the alternative if I can put up with OD green is to buy an E2e head and stick it on my L2 with Ku's drop-in. I planned to buy one of his drop-ins for my nickel E2e, since there is no way I can ever get a matching head for it, looks like I will have to buy one for my main EDC too.

Of course I could go the whole hog and swap with a E2e-BK.. that would be nice..

And the toothless Defender looks AWESOME!! One glance at the photos and they're indistinguishable from the real thing that was made without teeth!

Surefire LX2 LumaMax is a bit more expensive than the E2DL and has the 2 stage tail click (which I really like), but most importantly is its the same lumens without the strike bezel. On a side note, I have carried the E2DL off and on for awhile now and I have never had a problem with it snagging clothes as with the clip it hangs bezel up, and the crenulations have not scratched the hands at all.

I played around with this setup tonight at a CPF meet. Really nice 2 mode setup. I direct compared it to my E2L-KX2 (measured 110L), and the Ku setup was ridiculously brighter... I mean not even close. Great little setup, and it was a little shorter in length than my E2L. Same UI, better beam quality and almost 3x the Lumen output. To top it off, its cheaper than an E2L.

Get the LX2 and put it's head on your L4. Then you'll have just what you want.

The LX2's new design, especially without knurling, looks great - except that the tailswitch is still a twist-for-constant-on, and I want a click-for-constant-on.

I think I am cracking...if anybody has an E2e-HA Black with Z57 to sell, let me know :D :D

Patience Grasshopper! The Marketplace will provide, just not all at once. You can get an E2D body for $35, a Z68 for $35, and a KX2C for $85. Thats what I did, and it looks smashing. Or you can do a two tone, KX2C+E2e body+Z68.

That's really good to hear.
I am waiting with anticipation for the moment when my E2D and Steve Ku's drop in are one

I am getting the 2 mode - Neutral.
Which one do you have, CW or Neutral?

Patience is correct.... I just realized there are some things I need to confirm.

Newer E2e-HABK - cannot take 17670s?! that was my plan

KX2C and LX2 heads - don't run in regulation with 17670s?

I think that leaves me with my backup plan which is to simply convert my L4, back to a conventional E1e/E2e incan head, and use the drop-in. Wish I hadn't sold my E1e bezel but in six years since I got the KL1 I never used it or wished I had one.

Hi there, greetings from Belgium!
Just add an old empty "filter holder" (Surefire, or Mini Mag AA ): it's bump proof, doesn't really affect the beam, and you can remove it within a second. I've carried such a combo in my pants pocket and it works great!

(Note: sorry for the broken English, I speak French...)

Thanks :) You were right, the hardware would eventually turn up, just when :)

I've PM'ed leukos to see if we can work out something with the E2e-BK kit. It so happens I've already committed to a pair of the Veleno Designs E-series tower module, so I'll pass on the KX2C. The E2e-BK is perfect though, since it has the incan bezel for the tower module.
