Low power Strion bulb replacement?

Hi all,

I'm looking for a low power bulb option to run with one of FM's E-series bi-pin adapters. I'd like to use this with an E1b body and the capacity of a 16340 cell means the Strion runtime just isn't enough. I'm looking for a rechargeable alternative to the stock lamp (15lumens). It would be for very practical (backup) use, nothing tactical or anything like that.

I currently am running a Minimag bulb that I coaxed to fit the bi-pin socket and it runs well so far on a 16340, drawing only ~0.4A and having fairly white output. The focus isn't ideal though and I'd like to not have to do that same sketchy modding process for every bulb I use in this light. So, I'd love to hear any recommendations that you all might have!

Thanks in advance.

Hmm... that's a tough one, sorry I can't be of more help. Some of the bulb experts might know of something. Just to be clear, you're running the E-series Strion socket in a typical Surefire E-series head right? I know you'd like a bi-pin bulb, but perhaps you're best off just running a Lumens Factory HO-E1R in that setup, it sounds perfect for the application and you won't need the socket. Decent runtime with 50 lumens of nice white light with no focus issues. I'm sure it will blow away the Minimag bulb and have a better service life. Sorry I can't help with a bi-pin option, but there's probably something out there.

Are you using the stock two-stage tailcap with the incan bulb? That seems like a bad idea to me, probably best off with a new Surefire Z61.

Thanks for the reply!

I'm running the socket in a standard E-series incan head. The lumensfactory bulb certainly has better runtime, but I'd even be happy with lower power. 50 lumens would be more than enough for the purpose of the light. That's the best option I've seen so far though!

The stock tailcap is just a plain clicky switch, the modes are done via the circuit located in the E1B's head. As far as I know none of the E-series lights have the modes done by the tailcap.

Okay, I used to have an E1B and I thought the two stage was run off of the tailcap, but that makes sense.

Yeah, the 1294 was the best looking option I saw on the page the leukos linked to. I'll have to figure out a source for them now.

Thanks for the suggestions! :)
