I've considered doing something like that, but using one of the round "radial" heatsinks I've seen..

Is that a cyan LS/o?

Hey Wayne, have you checked out any "surplus" electronics stores? I have one near me that sells nearly every imaginable heatsink for about a dollar or three... They're used, but what's to wear out?

A suplus heatsink like the one in Yclo's post sells for about $2 locally.. The really big ones approach the 4 to 5 dollar range, which still isn't bad.

No offense YC, but unless you plan to use that sink for the upcoming 5-watt LS, I just wouldn't be able to get over the biplane look...

The heatsink was so cheap it's not funny. (purchased from Hong Kong)

It even had holes in it when I bought it!

I hooked up 4.5v and had it go up to about 1.1A and it didn't even get warm... (well it did but not noticably)

Now that's heatsink..
