How do you guys plan on packing the lunasol?
Lanyard? holster? Is there a holdter that will hold one of these?
I am looking forward to my lunasol.
The question is will this replace my PD-s in the edc rotation? Very likely. The thing is I will need to find a decent way to carry it. If there is a holster which will hold it can you please mention of post an image of it here?
Maybe we need to make a group visit to ART OF THE HIDE. Maybe is Matt could be talked into making a batch of them for us,,,,
Anybody else interested?
What about lanyard carry? Anybody planning that? what kind of lanyard?
Talk to us fellas.

How does the XR27 (and Lunasol 27) Head feel in a pants pocket? I love the size of my mule and PD's head, but the XR27 seams a bit big. Any thoughts?

+1 on the holster from Matt. I would be in for one. For now I plan on using a lanyard. I am real excited for rthis light as well. I think mine was one of the early orders that got out on Saturday.
So I will be waiting by the mailbox:candle:

The S27PD fits bezel up in the smaller (E1) SF holster. Matt is definately the way to go if he can fit a run of these ino his busy schedule.

Yes, the head of the light makes for an awkward feel in the pants pockets, so a holster would be the best idea. In the meantime this one will be staying by my chest 24-7 via lanyard, wrapped around the body and coming out through the clip...

Putting the LunaSol27 or the S27 head in a pants pocket stetches it a bit. IMHO it is very uncomfortable and will eventually destroy your pants ... unless of coure you wear cargo or tactical pants.

I have a very nice SOE holster made for the SF L1 that fits the LunaSol27 perfectly.

Re: LunaSol form factor

I was fortunate enough to recently pick this holester up in anticipation of the LunaSol 27 wave. I hope Matt is willing to work with the new LunaSol owners. Having a viable (and stylish) carrying mechanism makes a world of difference for me in whether I carry a light or not.

Re: LunaSol form factor

Holsters really take the joy out of a light, i find myself using less the light when holstered because i need to pull up the flap, open it, pull the light out, then open the flap, holster the light again, close the holster and make sure is secured. A good lanyard and pocket clip is all i need.

I agree with you here, I like holsters but find I use the light less. The clip on Don's lights are a big reason they are my main EDC, its right there, cliped in my pocket, ready to go. I mostly wear loose pants, slacks and sweats, so the extra size of the 27 head does not bother me and the clip holds it secure, when I do wear jeans though, I will reach for a regular PD to EDC.

I agree, just clip it and forget about It.

I carry all of mine using a Lanyard made out of 550 cord with black snaps. The snaps will seperate incase someone tries to choke you with the 550 cord. I wear Britney Speers style pants:duh2: so I don't have much room for anything but money and a Knife.

When I was still in Berkeley where long pants were required, I wore my various lights clipped on the outside on my belt. Now that I am in a warm climate and wear shorts that don't even have belt loops, I clip my light on the outside on my waistband. I admit readily that were I to loose one of these lights, it would not represent the financial loss that it would to one of you. However, I have yet to loose one of the lights. I have knocked one off the waist a couple times but I don't care about the occasional drop either. If I were out on the water or hiking somewhere where dropping the light, without knowing it happened, were a possibility, I would add a tether to the light and clip the tether to my person but still carry the light clipped on my waist. My cell phone is also in a leather case that has a belt clip and I wear it on the other side on my waistband. Because of its bulk and inability to lie close to my body, I have knocked it off many times and it has the scuffs and dings to show for it.

Frankly, there are some cool SF lights I would be more inclined to carry on occasion but I don't trust their clips to keep the light in place where I choose to carry them. For me, the Ti belt clip is a very significant aspect in qualifying a light as an EDC. I realize that I am in a minority here as otherwise more lights would have a better and viable clip on them.

All my EDC lights are either clipped tightly to my belt or in an open top case. Quick on the draw, secure in the carry the McGizmo belt clip is one of the best designs. I leave my T-shirt untucked which protects from scratching. Having a light handy makes a big difference when ones eyes are not as sharp in dim or high contrast shadowed situations.
Also, the exposed tritium top makes it easy to find my pants in the dark also:naughty::crackup:

Speaking of holsters, anyone know if there are any Ripoffs nylon holsters that would fit the LunaSol27/S27-PD? I've looked and I can't find the dimensions of the LunaSol/S27 and it's unique shape doesn't lend itself well to the standard cylindrical holsters. The SOE one doesn't look bad, but I prefer a velcro flap rather than the plastic clip type.

You can order the SOE with a velcro flap. The plastic clip was my own preference.
