I have 1 watt R bin drive at 400 mA. Light is very bright and save battery power. luxeon 3 watt S and T bin drive at 400 mA is not bright as R bin 1 watt and eventhought 1 watt will make a good white light even the battery low.

3 Watt luxeon seem to be very bright when start feed around 500 mA up.

I have a 1W RX1G. Very low Vf and very bright. Brighter than T bin 3W'ers I've used. I thought my T bin was bad until I realized my 1W RX1G was exceptionally bright.

That´s too short describtion come on.

What was the source you drive the led?
i hope it wasn´t a regulation. To many cannot handle this little vf variation.

and i hope you cooled it correctly... ;-)

and how old was the T bin

My T bin test LED was a TWOK connected in several battery configurations compared to a RX1G, QYOK and another RXOJ (I believe) under the same conditions. I tried them all Direct Drive in a Dorcy Metal Gear 3xAAA with and without the stock resistor and in a Dorcy 3D with and without the stock resistor. The R bins held up very well against the TWOK, usually nudging past it unless I drove the TWOK in DD.

The RX1G came in my Dorcy Metal Gear, BTW. and now resides in a Taskforce 3xAAA w/resistor and approaches 60 lumens with fresh NiMH AAA's. How hard am I really driving it? Maybe I'd better check.
