Maglight Rechargeable -- Impressions?

Just checking. Has anyone recently bought the Maglight rechargeable -- I mean the standard, out of the box type, and if so, what is your impression in terms of throw/brightness?

I haven't used mine in stock form for awhile. From what I remember it was no slouch out of the box.

It`s been a couple of years since I`ve used mine, but I liked it. The best output of all Mag models IMHO. All other (stock) Mag`s just appear to be sickly dim compared to it. 😀😗

Sounds great! Do you recall if there is more than one lamp assembly or more than one variation? I like my Stinger rechargeable, but want something a bit bigger and beefier.

Mine has had an 1160 bulb for almost the whole time I've had it.

If you get the bulb PERFECTLY centered in the reflector it has great throw and beam!

My 1160 is slight to medium frosted and has a GREAT beam!

EDIT: I recently had my original battery die since getting it last Christmas. I've since bought a NimH stick and a pair of Mag D clamps and charge it about monthly indoors overnight. Obviously I don't USE it very often but like having it when I need it!

Keeping it in the charge cradle in my truck seems to be what killed the battery.

Wish I hadn't thrown mine out. Just got an ultra stinger, and the stock magcharger easily out-threw my new u. stinger 🙁

The WA1160 is an upgrade bulb, you can get it here:

There are two versions of the original, standard bulb from Maglite to the MagCharger, and the new version is clearly brighter than the old version.
The WA1160 is brighter than the never version.
I have an unfrosted bulb in mine, and it does show an uneven spot, but it is still quite bright.

If I am not mistaken, there is just one lamp assembly available from MAG.
