i have a Maglite 3D. and want to make it into a led.
since it dosent light op as mush as a small fenix TK10. and since it is about
6 times bigger. i think than with a led. like cree or similer.
the 3 D cells . would give it lots of power.

and i have heard it is posible to do.
but be warned im not a tecnikal person. so it should be some thing
realy easy.

what do you think ?

Fjolsseti,

I've done a couple of basic modifications with a 3D mag. This is the first and the easiest mod, without any wiring or soldering to do. If you have three high capacity D cells, it will give a decent output for a good amount of hours http://www.kaidomain.com/ProductDetails.aspx?ProductId=1763. I don't know how this would compare to your TK10.

My second mod, which gives a significantly brighter output, is Stefan's P7 design  http://www.candlepowerforums.com/vb/showthread.php?t=195358. You'll need a fair bit of soldering to do this one - and luck! Oh... and judging by other people's experience on CPF, you'll need to be patient waiting for the circuit boards.

NO that will NOT work on your Mag
Have a look at the Kaidomain Mag Cree Q5 dropin

Hi Fjolsseti,

Here is a dropin from Electrolumens. It says its for a 3D mag and will put out up to 1800 lumens.

well i have tryed to order it the http://www.kaidomain.com/ProductDeta...ProductId=1763

but i cant for some reason. i try to make an account but it want.
and for some reason i cant contact the owner. to bad.

The Kaidomain Cree Q5 Mag dropin does not work very well with a standard smooth Mag reflector. Also, their dropin does not stay in place as the bulb tower always pushes it up. Granted there are fixes for it, they should have designed it with a securing mechanism.

The best 3D Mag dropin is the Malkoff Devices one. It costs more, but well worth the price. If I were you, that is the one I would get.
