I cant seem to find the c cell mags local .. I thought I read that they was rare .. Is that the case ? Whats so special about the c cell mags ???
Thanks

Home Depot stores seem to restock them every few months. I noticed a few purple and some black 2C at a store in Canton,MI.

I did find a black 3C Mag at Fry's in Las Vegas over a year ago, if you are near them.

You might also look in some of the smaller hardware stores and auto parts stores in your area.

Good luck.

I've really only been able to find C-Mags reliably at Fry's. (I really dig the 3C cut down and rethreaded to use with a tailswitch and four CR123s... you name the light engine.)

It is partly a Beatamax vs VHS thing. You kids will have to ask your parent's about that.

Partly a Freudian issue. I ain't going any farther with that one either. :nana:

I like the C cell lights over the D anyway. Better balance and feel in my hands. Fry's and Rat Shack here are the only consistent outlets for C sized Mags locally. Mail order is the next best thing.

The last one I got locally was from Radio Shack - a 2C.

Radio Shack
Home Depot
Ace Hardware

Black 2-C models at Radio Shack. Black and colored 2-c models at Home Depot. 3-C black models at Ace.

Those are the best places to look.

The C size seems to be a bit of a renegade. Odd why this size isn't more popular. Must be to do with C size cells. Or like Pellidon said, it's some bizzare Freudian issue...

Anyway, order one online is the best way. A few weeks later it will arrive at your door wrapped in discreet plain brown paper packaging

is there any really awesome mods a begginer can do to a maglite??

Yes!. Go to Reflectalite and buy a GH24 bulb. Then get a section of heater host to slip inside the battery tube (I think 3/4" is the right size). Split the hose down the long axis so that you can slip 3 CR123A cells inside and slip it inside a Mag 2C. Add an aluminum cammed reflector if you don't mind spending a few more dollars.

Even without the aluminum reflector, this easy mod will knock your socks off. With it, you will have a perfectly round, extremely white beam that is over 200 lumens.

IMO, this is the most bang for the buck simple mod that exists.
