What is there to be gained and lost by choosing AW RC123's vs C123 primaries?

With current li-ion tech rcr123's can only pull about half the runtime of a cr123 primary. The nice thing though is one pair of RCR's are the equivalent of at least 100 cr123 primaries if you don't abuse them.

Consider a 1x18650 or 17670 with the M60 modules. The tradeoff is somehwat shorter max output regulation, but you get greatly increased useful battery life and no sudden cutoff or need to watch the battery voltages (light will dim before the protection circuit kicks in)

I would get AW IMR16340s over RCR123s for M60.
With M60 I believe you'll get more "realized" capacity than with RCR123s.
In the M60L the AW RCR123 LION cells would have an advantage.

That's if you want to use 2 cells.

I do as Yoda says (it worked for Luke!) and use a single 18650 cell.
With an AW 18650-2600 - I get about 3 hours of fairly flat run , tapering off for another hour , probably another safe hour after that.

It's not as bright as 2 cells , but I don't care. I have brighter lights :)
