Has anyone tried a single AA 1.5v battery on this M31W drop in? States .8-3v. I am wondering what the output level would be approx. thanks

It needs 1.8 volts for full power. A L91 would get you there. I have used a regular 1.5 with mine and it's not far off from being full power. Till the voltage starts dropping

The M31LL from Illumn runs at full output from an L91, and looks pretty close to full output on a freshly charged NiMH (but is very close to dropping out of regulation. I suspect what you really want is an M31LLL (Illumn has a few) - 15 lumens OTF and should run just fine on any sub 3V AA battery.

Thanks. I've had so many of the 219b drop ins from Illumn that I'd like something different lol. That may be the way to go though, just really wanted a low output SST20 3000k powered by a AA or CR123, it's a very nice led

May just get the M31W

Ordered the M31W, can run on a CR123 primary or AA - fantastic

What you think the estimate runtime is on the L91?

Boy I've never done a single L91 with that drop in. But you'll get a steady drop in output for hours

I've been running an M31LL 219B V3 on a single L91, and while I have not done accurate runtime tests, the runtime before output diminishes is quite good. This dropin is in a VME head on Malkoff's 1xAA body, a very useful setup.

I run single Eneloop(1.2v) in M31w and output is similar to medium mode on Malkoff's 3mode li-ion MDC Neutral head, so I'm guessing around 50 lumens. Very useful beam, similar to M61LLLL. Can up lumens a bit with 1.5v aa and get full output with Olight's weird 2.4v 14500 battery which I also use in MDC AA light to boost moonlight mode to over 1 lumen.

Great information. Thank you
