This is my first time uploading a photo, so hopefully I did it right!

Shown is my SST Maratac AAA with some 1/2" heat shrink added to the body. It serves several purposes. The main purpose I was going for was to secure the clip a little better. I've had the clip pop off several times not to mention the tendency of it to twist easily. This holds the clip very secure and eliminates any twist.

IMHO, it adds some grip to the body and it also protects the light when carried in the pocket with change and keys.

I paid less than $2 for three 4" pieces at my local hardware store. The 1/2" is a very tight fit to get on the light but I did manage to get it to fit. A slightly larger size may work a little better.

I could have done a better job trimming it to length by the head, but I still have 2-1/2 pieces to perfect it!

ive been adding heat shrink tubing to nearly everything since i found out about it, keys, zippers, lanyards everything that needs a bit more grip or rounding of the edges, even tried layering it, making short small parts shrink on first and then 1 big piece over it for a ribbed or grooved impressionlovecpf

Great idea to hold that clip in place! I'm gonna reverse the clip for headlight duty and try some heatshrink.

Just did it this weekend on one of my ARC-AAA's. It turned out so well that I'll be doing my other two. Highly recommended for small twisties such as these, much better grip.

Thanks OCD! I used a smaller section of heatshrink over the base of the weak clip. Makes the clip very sturdy with zero chance of coming off the body. The little Maratac has now replaced all my headlamps!
