I have a light with a SST-90 and Direct Drive. it is powered by a single IMR 26560 cell. On the second day of light usage by Mcclicky switch failed. How much current do you think is passing through the switch. I thought these were pretty much bulletproof?

If a Mclivky Switch is rated at 12V - 4A what would be the rating at 4V ? 12X4 = 48 Watts - 4V X even 10A would be less at 40 Watts?

Why are you pushing this? You've posted your question to two different CPF forums already and have gotten your answer. If you really want to know what current you are pulling, then measure it.

You smoked your McClicky by exceeding its rated max of 4A. It's that simple.

If the switch is rated at 4A max, then that's it. The switch has a fixed, finite resistance, resulting in I^2*R heating. If you increase I beyond the rated max, you risk switch failure because some small, internal component probably got too hot.
