I am looking at the Microfire Warrior III and am simply slobbering over it!

My fellow flashaholic friend told me not to go there, and he gave me a good reason. He said that many HID flashlights work well if they pointed straight out then fail when you try to point them up (or vice versa, can't remember which). I trust his judgement, but are there any that do not do this, or don't as much. The look and the lumens of this flashlight is making me slobber!...Big Time!

I am willing to save up and try it out, but is it worth it?

And if it's not worth it, is there any other HID light that is simply awesome in build quality and lumens that works well and is a great light for the price?

Thanks for any and all input!

I don't experience that on my Microfire Warrior III

Oracle 35W HID Flashlight (dual modes-optional)

Oracle 24W HID Flashlight

*Built isn't awesome as the Microfire Warrior III

"Technically", some HID bulbs are made to run horizontally and might experience a little shorter life if used vertically a lot. But these bulbs don't "go out" when pointed vertically. You simply may get a slightly less life out of the bulb. But when you're dealing with our flashlight type 2500 to 3000 hour HID bulbs, a few less hours is not going make any difference. You will most likely have upgraded to something else long before the bulb dies. Don't let this detail influence your purchase decision.

My K3500 has never done that and I've never seen any HID turn off when pointing up or down. It's possible for the beam to change colors or even flicker at times but this is 100% normal.

There are more cost effective options available than the Microfire too that likely give up little or nothing in quality.

Keep in mind that about the only thing in common between the POB and K3500 is the wattage. In every other aspect they're completely different lights and one is indeed very compact in relation to the other. In fact, the Oracle and Tactical 24W lights approach the K3500 in size.

A little late to this discussion, but hopefully not too late. :grin2:

I've had my K3500 for over 2 years now and have never experienced any issues with it either. So far it has performed flawlessly although it does spend allot of the time dressing up the shelf. The construction is high quality and the finned & vented design is one of the most unique I have come across. The light output is of course the best feature with its 35W wall-O-light capability it far exceeds the performance of any of my other torches. I give it :twothumbs
