Curious... I have an extra 55W HID kit en-route.
Can the northern tool 10 MCP halogen be modded into a 25MCP HID equivalent?

... this light here:

According to the www site it has a 7AH SLA battery, that combined with the higher wattage HID I plan to use should (in theory) result in more Lumens.

Do the two share the same reflector and lens?

thanks:thumbsup:

I mod two Halogen lights to HID, i would say the reflector is ok when its is steel or alloy, and this is usual for halogen.

I crack one of the halogen lenses to the heat on a indoor runtime test.
Right now i use a oven gless from a local glazier.

Except that for me this look like a good host for a 55 watt hid.

Oh good feedback thanks. I hadn't thought about overheating the lens. I definitely won't be doing any indoor run time testing, but thanks for the reply.

just get the correct bulb, find a spot for the ballast and your set (should be PLENTY of room in that light)!! The 7amp battery should give you close to 35-45 minutes run time with the 55 watt ballast. I know they say they're rated at 7 amp hours but in my testing with 7 amp hour SLA batteries they will only power a 35 watt ballast for 50-55 minutes hot off the charger(was a new 12v sla 7ah). I believe the 7ah rating is with a current draw of 1/5c or 1.4 amps.

ive modded 2 spot lights to HID. Both were originally h3 6 volt spots. the second one is waiting for the lipo battery to arrive but they both are awesome. youll enjoy it

More GREAT feedback thanks... I plan on using a 12AH SLA cell. I bought it on a whim. So its reassuring to hear my $$ has been well spent.

thanks!!

This spotlight makes for a great hid conversion. Check mine out for some ideas. If you need any spare parts let me know, I gave up on mine after the ballast poofed..

Great thanks!!!

I've read your thread before (khaki HID mod), and it never occurred to me that this one was your host. I'm definitely not going to overclock my ballast, at least not on this one. Hopefully my ballast will be a legit ~55W draw.:twothumbs

I just might take you up on your spare part offer... lets see what I end up nuking first. LOL
