I think the Boxer 24W is the same diameter as the Surefire M6. Has anyone mounted either of these lights as a weapon light on a rifle? If you, did, what mount did you use?

Thanks in advance,
Dave

The Boxer's reflector is quite a bit larger than the M6...

If it were mounted to a rifle, I think the HID lamp would want to pop out of the socket... it's not very firmly held in place compared to the M6.

Thanks for the info. I didn't think of the bulb NOT staying in the socket.

Is there a mount for the M6? I may look at that option.

Thanks,
Dave

I've never seen a mount for the M6 before. Like Scott mentioned though...if there is a mount that existed for it you'd need and extra 8mm of clearance because the head is 15mm larger in diameter.

Do you know any machinists? It probably wouldn't be too difficult to make one for under $100, not including your time of course.

SF manufactures a complete "WeaponLight" that's based on the M6, but it's not a regular M6 in a mount. I've never seen any bolt-on methods to getting an M6 on a firearm.

Check the Millenium Universal lights as a start... there's tons more, and their Web site doesn't list them all! (NOTE: Prep yourself for a serious case of sticker shock.)

The Boxer isn't instant on if that matters. It takes 30 seconds or so to get to (near) full brightness.

I am not into guns (not allowed to be here anyway :), so I don't know if instant on is a requirement for weapon mounted lights.

The Surefire M96, M97 and M98 series all take the KT4. The M500 dedicated forearm series also takes the KT4 which almost looks like a mounted M6. But you are right, I have not seen a mount for the M6(KT4+6 cell body).

Right...and I think Gilmore was asking the question because the M6 body is in the same size arena as the Boxer, which he was talking about mounting...by the body.

The best place to mechanically grab a M6 would be around the flat part of the head or the fins. The problem with grabbing it around the head is the rather large dimension and the problem with grabbing it around the fins is questionable surface purchase and enough clearance for the head. Any mount that attached to the rings would have to be fairly tall to push the light out far enough to clear the head. ........

Just thinking out loud..... There I go thinking again.....:sssh:

Dave, one of my clients had a run of these made up to mount Boxers on his rifles. It was extremely well made and he was very happy and solid as a rock. It might give you some ideas.

I believe the M6 was mounted on a weapon once for a concept shot. Size15s mentioned a weaponlight variant of the M6 but as of yet I haven't found it in the website or the catalog:(

This one does look well made but I'm not especially attracted to the tightening set screw configuration with regards to the rail attachment point. I'm thinking there must be a better way. Nice machining though!
