mx 99 mod help

So; I have an old GI MX 99i\u angle head light. I want to make it more useful and bright, but it's plastic bodied.
It's got a "PR6 China" bulb, metal reflector, plastic lens and a 2 D body.
Probably an LED would be smartest.
Anybody mod one of these yet?

If you want an incan. mod, you can get an 8 AA battery holder; load in 7 AA nimh's and a dummy; replace the bulb with a 6 cell mag star bulb. Easy mod, minimal expense, nice and bright!
