After searching for the right flashlight for the job.

I finally found one that I really like.

Hopefully, it will last me a good ten years like my Leatherman.

What Fenix did you get?

Fenix are great and pretty durable.
Theres been a few torture tests done on them and they held up pretty well.

Only time will tell how long they actually last though.

Which one did you get?

L2S? Isn't that model already 10 years old LOL? Where did you find one of those?

The L2S was reviewed by Flashlightreviews during 2006 so it has been out a while.

There have been some big changes in the LED world since then. Swapping in a current gen LED for the Luxeon I in the L2S will double the output(or more) for the same runtime.

But it is your light, as long as you like it.

Maybe later I will get a more powerful light.

But, I like the fact that you can see stuff with 10 lumens without the light bouncing back in your face with the 45 lumens.

And the 45 lumens is great for night time walking.

I was thinking of getting a Fenix E01, but, I like the fact that you can get a better LED which also happens to be a white LED with 10 lumens.

The Fenix E01 are known to have a bluish or purplish LED, but, it all depends.

Plus, you can hold the 2 AA Fenix under your armpit when you wash your hands or doing something.

I hope you didn't pay more than 20$ for it. You really should try a light with a Cree. I recommend the L2D Q5, well worth the money.

I paid pretty close to that.

I know the Fenix L2D CE Q5 is a great light, but, I don't see the reason to pay almost 60 dollars for one when you can get pretty good light like the Fenix L2S or even a Fenix L1S.

Plus, the L2D is rated at 35,000 hours while the Fenix L2S is rated at 100,000 hours.

I like the fact that you can read stuff with the 10 lumens without the light being too bright, and when you need the extra lumens to help you see you have it.

I think these lower-powered 2 level lights are actually very useful for around the house, and for camping/walking/hiking in dark countryside at night. They only lack range/throw capability.

I have a Fenix L2P v2.0, and a Lumapower LM33 (my LM31 just left with my mother-in-law, who had NO flashlight...horrible!) and they honestly get more use than my brighter Cree lights (Fenix L1T, Lumapower D-Mini. Romisen RC-N3). More output is nice to have, and I'm going to get some brighter lights, but honestly, 95% of the time, I don't need 100 lumens or more. Usually, 10 - 50 lumens is just fine.

Congrats. Enjoy your first Fenix.

It won't be your last. It only gets more interesting from here. :)

to get the flashlight (considering as a tool) with your own preferences is a point, so you sort it out, found it, enjoy it :twothumbs

^^^^ I 2nd that!

It should take several years to run an LED for 35,000 hours, by that time something much better should have become available. The L2D Q5 should be much more efficient and brighter but if you are content with the L2S there is nothing wrong with that.

I'm glad I made the right choice.

I totally notice that 10 lumens is just perfect enough to read something without being too bright to shine back in my face.

But, if I need that extra light. I sure having it with 45 lumens.

Thanks.

I guess it all starts with one.

lol.

Anyway, this is actually my first quality LED flashlight.

All the other ones were just practice to see what I like or dislike with them.

Thanks, I know what you are saying.

I know it's not the best LED flashlight compared to newer models of Fenix, but, alot of times you can get a good deal on batteries on sale.

For low-light tasks I prefer the LOD Q4, a LOT smaller than the L2S, and almost twice as bright, it usually hangs around my neck.
