N2 Discontinued...Any Ideas Why?

That's too bad. SF has owed me a promised N2 for nearly a year. Looks doubtful that I will ever get it.

I think they had some manufacturing issues with the last couple of batches of N2 lamps. They got behind and never caught up.

They consider the MN15 an equivalent substitute and in the bigger picture they are correct. Runtime and output are about the same.

The big difference is (was) the filament and filament supports in the N2 were a little different than those in the Millennium lamps. The N2 produced a very round beam with a nice smooth transition from center hotspot to corona. This beam was pleasing and favored by quite a few. The Millennium series all have an elliptical shaped beam.

In the scheme of things this difference is very minor and probably a non issue to SF.

The N2 was old technology compared to the MN15. The MN15 produces more, whiter light for longer.
CPFers don't tend to like the beam shape of the MN15 compared to the N2 (and I admit to preferring the N2 as well) - however, this is not an issue SureFire or SureFire's customers are concerned with because the MN15 is also more durable and has a better lifespan.

You can still nab an N2 in the B/S/T section now and then if you really want to get one. I have picked up 2 of them this way. Happy hunting.:)

Just pick up a KT2. The manual indicated N2 lamp but actual lamp is a MN15.

They have shipped like this for about six months. I received one of the first. The dealer was not aware and there was no indication on the box. Surefires website still showed KT2 with N2.

I understand that circumstances or business choices may warrant a change, but be open about it and let us know so we are making an informed choice.

I had this conversation with SF. They did not disagree and promised to send me an N2 when they came in.

Looks like it will be a long wait.
