I want to be able to charge my lights while away camping. And so I need an inverter that can run all my chargers, one at a time of course.

Maya MH-C808M Charger,
Borealis Mag charger,
Standard 12v SLA charger @ 1.25amp,
Lithium 11.1v - 14.8v smart charger,
Dewalt DE9000 Charger,

all 240VAC,

Can anyone point me in the right direction for a suitable inverter, preferably from AUS.

Thanks.

Hello Flashanator,

It is too bad that you don't have a hobby charger... They hook up to your automobile battery and are capable of charging all of the chemistries you have listed.

I don't have a good suggestion as to which inverter would work best for you, but you may want to get in contact with these people as a way to get started on your search.

I do not have a specific recommendation for an inverter. However, from looking into this issue in the past, I would recommend to not get one that says it generates a "modified" sine-wave. Some chargers (and other electronic devices) do not use AC transformers and using a charger that doesn't have a transformer on the primary AC side will not work with inverters that produce "modified" sinewave AC. Using one could damage the charger, batteries and inverter as well. "Modified sinewave" inverters rely on the transformer to "smooth out" the steps in the modified sinewave. If your chargers have a wall-wart that steps down the voltage to some DC level, you probably would be ok. But I know a lot of the power tool chargers (in particular DeWalt) do not use a step-down transformer.

If you value your equipment, look for an inverter that puts out pure sinewave. They cost abot 1.5-2x what the equivalent "modifed sinewave" model would cost. You get what you pay for. Or an alternative is to get a small generator.

- Good Luck.
