I am wondering which 2xCR123 or 2xRCR123 compact incandescent torch would have the best throw...

I know that the PELICAN M6 2320 or the STR SCORPION are good, they throw better than a standard SUREFIRE 6P , but I am looking for a better throw or XENON module to fit a SUREFIRE 6P body.

How's the WF501-B , comparative to the others : http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.903s ??

I have a LUMENS FACTORY XENON module rated at 200 lumens , very bright indeed, but it's rather floody than throwy...

Anyone have tried those AIMSHOT flashlight ? Do those punch better ?
Or maybe I should orientate myself to a WOLF-EYES module ? Which of them ?

Any input would be much appreciated !

2xIMR16340 (AW LiMn cells)

1xIMR-M3T

1xKT2

1x6P or equivalent host compatible with the "C" style threads of the adapter included in the KT2.

runtime will be ~7 minutes, give or take... Use the MN15 as your LOLA lamp, it too will throw really well just won't have as much total output...

------------

D26 modules with bulbs in them just aren't going to be real impressive throwers, and as you move up in wattage on them, they invariably get floodier. You need a bigger reflector.

Thank you, mdocod !
Well, the TL-2 will be the same like the Scorpion...so it will throw almost like a PELI 2320.

In this case I guess that a 3xCR123 or 2 x 17500 configuration will help more, but the light will be bulkier !

Moving up in host size isn't going to improve thow all that much, but in a 3xcr123 size light, I would still suggest the turbohead, but 3xIMR16340s coupled to either a HO-M6R, IMR-M6, or FM MN<bi-pin socket w/1185.

if you are really serious about throw in a "tactical" body size, it's going to be a turbohead, all of the bulbs in the turbohead are going to throw well, you just have to decide how many lumens and how much runtime you want backing that up.

Moving up to a 2x18650 platform makes some of these killers more practical in the runtime department.

The $9 501B is pretty tight within the first ~45 feet or so, then starts to open up from 45-85 feet, after that the beam gradually smooths out to a diffuse flood.

Note however that mine came from DX with some scuff marks on the OP reflector. Not sure what affect this has on the beam, but I would think if anything it would flood it more.

FWIW... Fence is at 30 feet, ISO fixed at 100. What the pics dont show is the dimmer flood out to the sides.
