Hi. I'm new to flashlights so if I say anything stupid it's only because I'm stupid. I bought a Fenix LD10. I was amazed at the amount of light it put out. I wanted something smaller so I got the Fenix LD01. I find myself using it all of the time because it's a little smaller and fits in the pocket much better, clipped or not. Also, it's pretty close to the brightness of the LD10. I can walk my dog with the LD01. That's pretty impressive when using a 16' retractable leash. I can see the dog perfectly and a lot more with a single AAA battery light. Amazing to me. Anyway, I have found I don't like the switch on the LD10. Half the time I try to change brightnesses I turn the light off by accident. Also, I have to change had positions to use the switch. I'm selling it for $40 on ebay. I have the Fenix LD15 in mind for $39. It has the twist switch like the LD01 so I can turn it on and change brightnesses without changing hand positions. It is also 117 lumens and the LD10 is 100.
What I'm asking for is an alternative to the Fenix LD15. Brand isn't important. Price is important. Nothing over $50. The less expensive the better of course but If I were to go to $60 or higher I'd spend it on a bigger flashlight. I'm wanting a single AA battery light with a twist switch at 100 lumens or brighter. I say twist switch but any one that I don't have to change the holding position to turn it on/off or change brightnesses is ok. Also, no way to accidentally turn it off. The battery is important. It has to be AA. I want to use batteries I can get anywhere anytime. I have a small recharger. The number of different brightnesses isn't really a big deal but definately a consideration. The Fenix LD15 only has two. 8 lumens and 117 lumens I think. That sounds like almost useless or really bright. I think I'd also like a brighness around 50 lumens even if I had to loose the 8 lumens.
Ok, that's my story. Any suggestions are appreciated. No real hurry. I'd like to have this as a present for Christmas. If I don't provide a list of my own gifts for my wife to give me she gets me stuff I don't need just so there will be an acceptable number of presents to open. That's ok I guess but I'd rather save the money for something I want than just having one more present to open. I'm drifting, sorry.
