New Guy& new Streamlight Li-Ion pwered light!

Kewl. Gonna need one eventually.
How much ya wanna bet, streamlight is aware of this web site and all of the interest in PILA batteries. I would be pretty sure that they keep track of some of the things are more adept modders. Just like detroit eventually sees what the home mechanics do. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/buttrock.gif

Welcome to CPF... this looks like one very cool little light. I wonder when it will be available and how much it will cost?

Who else is already anticipating/waiting for the larger version??

I bet the pricepoint won't be much more than a Stinger (about $100.00 street level).

The specs are still a bit odd...3.7 volts running a 6.12 watt bulb, 2000MAH capacity. Yet still getting a good 80 Lu from it...Interesting.

Re: New Guy

Wonder how that will stack up against Stinger XT-HP?
Mine is kind of fuzzy on wide focus....Not to happy :-(
For $100 I'd get one if its a better beam...

Re: New Guy

Whoo hoo! I can't wait for a Mr. Bulk LED mod for this light!!

Re: New Guy

Thanks to everyone for the kind words! I just stumbled across the Strion while checking out Streamlights site for TwinTask info.

I'm still feeling my way around here folks. I'm not all that familar with message boards. I have lots of questions but will wait to post more until I get a better feel of things. I DON'T want to be off topic and cause problems.

Again thanks to all...

Re: New Guy

This is an awesome little light one of the coolest new products a saw at the show. I spoke with I very nice gentlemen from SL can't remember his name right now but have his card somewhere. I was told it will be out in July and will be prices about the same as a standard Stinger he also told me the lamp is the same as the Stinger and is rated at the same lumens but the CP is a bit less as the reflector is smaller. This light is very nice and would be great for those looking to take some weight off there belt.

I was also told that the guys from SL like to stop by CPF and do some reading from time to time?

Forget about all the speculation. Here are FACTS

I am new kid on block.

Wish I can post pictures. I have actual brochure for the Strion.

Price list obtained from SHOT Show:

Part# 74001: Strion 120 VAC / 12 VDC (1) Holder = $149.95
Part# 74003: Light with AC charger only = $144.95
Part# 74004: Light with DC charger only = $134.95
Part# 74000: Light only = $99.95

ppmd - who's glad he found this most interesting forum.

Re: Forget about all the speculation. Here are FA

How would it compare to a Scorpion with Stinger bulb and Pila 168B (wich is what I use now)?

(And when will SF switch from Nicads to something a *bit* more up-to-date?)

If it is as looks, I would think it to be better. Don't have to remove batteries for charging, and it should be brighter than the Scorpion. Probably not a lot though.

ppmd -

Welcome to CandlePowerForums.

This is a little off topic but since this is a newbie's thread and you are a newbie I have a comment for you. I will be watching with great interest what you may have to say. It's interesting that a SHOT participant posts as a newbie. This is one of many things I like about CPF. This board seems to attract intelligent and knowledgeable people like yourself.

Thanks for the good information.

- Jeff

I would think they would be very close the Scorpion might have a bit smaller reflector so a little less CP. After reading SF's 2004 catalog it doesn't look like they plan on updating the rechargeable line any time soon. They feel lithium's are much more reliable and with there new price I think they feel they are an all-around better choice.

Welcome Chicagoradiospy! You sure have caused a big stir over the Strion. I've been looking at this light for several weeks, also thinking that it makes the perfect LuxIII direct drive platform. So I took the plunge and just ordered one from "Southwestpublicsafety.com." Should ship in May for $75 w/charger & auto adapter.
I'm hoping that Streamlight, Mr. Bulk or some one else will make a retrofit DD 3w drop in for this light. But in the meantime, it makes a superior replacement for the Scorpion that now lives in my glove box. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/buttrock.gif

My thoughts are more along the lines of a Strion HP and an "Ultra Strion" with 2 cells! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/blush.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif While waiting for those to appear however, here is a thought: The Wolf-Eyes 6M is about the same length, uses what looks like a very similar lamp (3.7V lamp with a runtime of 50 minutes with a 1.8 Ah cell - about the same as 70 minutes with a 2 Ah cell) and a larger reflector (bezel diameter 42 mm). It uses a lamp/reflector module and not a seperate lamp-reflector arrangement however, so lamp replacement will be more expensive and one cannot fine-tune the focus of the lamp! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif So, Streamlight, please can we have the Strion HP and Ultra Strion soon? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/bowdown.gif

I asked about this at ShotShow and the answer was that if the Strion does as well as they hope then the larger models will follow. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif
