For me it looks very similar to their hid / halogen lamps oo:. They are rating it 12W and 700 lumen - it will cost about 350 euro.

I'm sure a P7 flashlight mod with an external battery pack could do 95%of what that could for a lot less cash.

Thanks for the link, I hadn't realized that any purpose built bikelight has the P7, though I haven't been "around" lately either.

Hmm... I would have expected them to name this after another Flintstones character.

It's more reasonably priced than the Wilma or Betty and more compact too. This will make a nicer head torch IMO. The output is a little less than the current Wilma but I doubt you would notice the difference between 700 and 900lm. If you had the $$$ you could probably cram quite a few of these on to your handlebars.

Yes, they are a little pricey but this is quality German engineering. Their products are well tested and will withstand years of mountain biking abuse.

possibly they realized that barely anyone gets halogen models now (nightmare), because the Led and HID (which is no longer advertised for) "are so much better" and had to offer a lower priced model.
The missing customers for the holgen are quite numerous and bring the money, Wilma/Betty/Edison sales alone dont cover cost.

Aside from some specialists not liking the P7, the tesla seems to become their cash-cow light now (when it will be purchaseable).

(unfortunately the buyers are tricked, even when it is "cheap" - compared to the other offerings.
f.e. the head alone is argued to will be offered for ~ € 170,-- --> making the batt pack pretty much the same price.
Now we all know the manufactoring cost for such a complete head to run around 70-100,-- (I tend to 70 at max), but the batt pack?
Must be a pure 150,-- of net earnings.

Thats real economic genious!

I believe Lupine developed their own reflector for the Tesla, which is not an inexpensive process!!! From early reviews the beam is well suited to mountain biking, even better than the Wilma beam.

For information the package for €350 includes more than just the light and battery, eg. charger, case, helmet mount and extension cable to run the battery in a back pack or pocket when helmet mounted.

I get that people here think that lupine overprice their products but honestly I have not seen a bike light (especially not DIY) that comes close in terms of quality, performance and not to mention customer service.

Stating the parts and manufacturing costs of this light as justification for it's price is like going to the BMW garage and asking why their cars don't cost the same as a Nissan in my opinion.

I don't have a telsa so I have not seen one for real yet but I do use a Wlima 5 every day to commute to work and I would recommend lupines to anyone.
