I am looking for advice on a purchase. I am looking at the Blackhawk Night Ops Flacata 6 volt at $39, 9 volt at $59 or the Streamlight TL2 Led at $39 or TL3 Led at $59.

I know its not apples to apples, but can I get pros and cons or just straight up advice or opinions? I am looking for a good all around light. I may get 1 Night ops and one Streamlight.

Thanks in advance.

Papa

Where can you get the falcata for $39 and $59? If it is Botach exercise some caution becuase many members have had very bad experiences with them (do a search). If is someone more reliable buy a heap of them coz that is damn cheap!

I have the Falcata 6V. It is a very nice light but I have a couple of small critisism I can share with you. It is very narrow in the battery tube so it limits you options with rechargables if you choose to use them. You are also limited to the standard Lamps as no other high output lamps are available. With brands like surefire and wolf eyes there is a heap of options now for high output lamps and differnt batteries etc.

Also I found the beam is a little more floody than other similar lights I own. It doesn't have a great amount of throw but the floody beam lights up a room really well.

It can be used with a Falcata 9 v lamp and 2 x 3.7 volt rechargables and is noticably brighter than the standard 6v set up. You get about 25 minutes run time on this set up.

Overall is is very well made and if ypu could get one for $39 thats a bargain.

I havn't owned the TL3 so I cant offer any compoarison sorry.

Good luck with your decision.

I am one of the people that have posted personal negative experience with Botach. Lucky for me, I have a little leverage with them. They are shipping an order out Monday and I am fairly confident I can get whatever else I want on the shipment as well. If I can get these for $39 and $59, would there be any market for them? I have over 80 transactions on eBay with 100% feedback so I know most will not worry about me.

Thanks for the info and tips. This website fascinates me to no end!! For the most part I just lurk around :)

I am looking for lights that have VERY reliable mods available for some friends I have in Special Forces in the Middle East. Any ideas?

Tony

Those prices are very cheap. If you look on ebay no else is selling them for anywhere near that low. I imagine you would also sell them pretty easy in the B/S/T section of this forum. I payed $73 + shipping for my Falcata and thought I did well!

As for the Mods you might be best to start a new thread and list exatly what criteria you are wanting. Eg higher output, longer runtime, able to be rechargale etc. You will get plently of responses and ideas.

Why are you choosing these 2 lights?
What are you using it for?

The Streamlight TL-3 LED is a good floody light, but all around it does not throw and it's not that bright.
The NightOPS I don't know about.

There are so many other lights out there why these 2.

Price is a factor. Are there mods for the Falcata ?

As I said, Botach has always been horrible for me....UNTIL I make contact with the person that handles GSA and DOD orders. He knows that I am a very straight forward and straight up person. He does not want any more bad info getting to the contract buyers than they already have. That is why he finally follows through.

What about the Inova T4 Rechargeable for $89.

Is there any particular light that is more "modable" than others?

Thanks!!

Tony

What kind of modifications are you doing?
What are you using it for?
Do you want:
Throw
Flood
Brightness
Runtime
Size
Type of batteries

CPF'ers will chime in once they know what you actually want and why.

I am a total Newbie. I wish I had a few weeks to read all the posts here but unfortunately I dont. I dont mind putting in the time I do have though. My answers are below.
What are you using it for?
Do you want:
Throw<<< Yes, that means distance of the beam right?
Flood
Brightness<<< This is probably the most important, MORE LUMENS!
Runtime<< Not as important but is an issue
Size
Type of batteries<< Would like to go rechargeable if possible.

This Forum has really impressed me! There seems to be a real group of quality people here that are legitimate versus the average BS artist!

Thanks in advance!!

Welcome Papaglock,

Here are some to look at, but I don't own due to money, since there is no end to buying on this forum :lolsign:
Lumapower D-Mini & M1 in the manufacturers corner.
[font=ARIAL, VERDANA, HELVETICA]Huntlight FT01XSE XR-E Cree P4. www.jsburlys.com
Fenix P1D CE. www.fenixstore.com
Check with manufacturers for the type of batteries required for use on the above lights.
If you are on a budget these LED flashlights are fairly good for the price: LILL, VINET at www.dealextreme.com. These require 3.7v RCR123 batteries to work at full brightness
As for incandescent lights I don't have any recommendations beyond the Streamlight TL-3.
