ok another noob here! Need help Please

Greetings all ... I been looking around a few days now.

I have a few questions about some things.



1ST. I see Mac's customs talked about here. Can I buy from him or does he only upgrade what you have already?



2ND. I use a Stream light Ultra Stinger now for work (I think that is what it's called) not very impressed with it.



3RD. I was looking at Fenix L2D-CE wanted some feelings on this pick.



Here is my story; I would like to buy a few lights. I do exterminating work, I would like a pocket size light/torch one that kicks butt for cracks and crevice inspections in tight dark places. Can be rechargeable or not... does not matter it terms of cost. Just want the best for the money.



I would also like a recharge light that kicks real butt... money no issue... just something that will light up mars... for flood type work, but will also get down and dirty in Cracks as well.... The reason for this one is also to freeze raccoons or other wildlife. I walked right up on one in a corner of a basement the other day, was about 2 feet in front of him before I realized he was there ... the stinger did keep him still .. But I was very lucky ... the only way out was through me.



If you need more info from me please let me know ... Also remember I have no idea of the lingo, or what makes a great light a great light ...so please go easy on me... links for sites to buy... or even shops in NY (5 boro area would be great) thanks guys.

Welcome to the mad house and hold onto your wallet.

The L2D is a great light and would suit your needs for a light that can see into small areas as its quite thin and small.

For a recharable light something like the Surefire Dominator 10X could be good.

It's pricey but worth it for outs dual output mode and being able to recharge it.

While I am not sure I want to have any part of helping you light up crack... I've got a few flashlight suggestions for you to investigate if you haven't already.

The L2D-CE is a respectable light.
There a couple nice offerings from Lumapower ...(they can be purchased stateside via BatteryJunction too)
Another nice one is the Amlite Neo T5
For a bit more money you can have the highly reguarded surefire flashlights

As for bright, bright lights, there are too many worthy lights to list, but you might start with a look at an Electro Lumens offerings as well as some other nice surefire incandescant lights like the above mentioned one.

Many custom lights are made and quickly sold out here as well as stock lights that are sent off to be modified.

The L2D-CE is 122 lumens.
The Quadstar phazer is 600 lumens calculated. My estimate after optical losses is 400 lumens.
The Pentalux is 750 lumens calculated. My estimate after optical losses is 500 lumens.
It is a problem carrying around the big lights. Maybe Niteize's Grip & Clip will help.

I'm just gonna give you the standard recommendation of the L2D, in my experience you can't go wrong with that one, OUTSTANDING light for most uses.

You're requirements are a bit vague still to really help you out. We got flood and STUPID bright.
But how about size, runtime, regulated(the light doesnt dim as the batteries gets weaker) what kind of batteries and do you want LED or incand?

Other than that, I also recommend Elektrolumens. This review might be of interest just to get an idea of what kind of lights he makes.

Is it just me or does the Surefire Dominator lamp assembly look like an auto headlight lamp assembly? I was in the auto store yesterday, I admit I got to thinking if anyone tried some flashlight mods using them.

The L2D-CE is a nice light with the modes to suit your output needs. Maybe the strobe would help freeze/confuse pests. This really is a good long running light that works well with eneloop or Hybrid rechargeables to keep running costs low.

For a big output light you can't go wrong with a ROP high in a 2D (6 AA NiMH) or 2C (using the new Li C cells). These will shock you, especially if built correctly.
