Older ARC AAA ID?

I can't remember when I got my ARC. At the time I didn't know they were anything special, I just came across it somewhere, and bought it. I can't even remember if I ordered it online, or bought it at a store? Was there are time that ARC's were available in stores? Maybe I did order it from ARC's website and just can't remember. It seems like I've had my ARC since before I was married, which was about 6 years ago. How long ago did they start making these? (I just found this answer in another topic, 2001. Not sure when in 2001 though.)

Mine just says "L.E.D. "AAA"- Arc Flashlight, LLC"

By today's standards it's pretty dim and purple, but it's not leaving my key chain. Here's a picture:

That one looks like my Arc AAA standard model (I think it might be a ver. 3.1) that was purchased almost five years ago. It also has a permanent spot on the keychain.
