Hmmm...it seems to appear that the "outdoor charging cable" would work with the rest of the SxxR series.

If so, I hope they make it available separately, as an alternative to the triangular charging base, even with the lack of a charging indicator.

Great comparison! How about the runtimes and drop down from turbo?

i find it interesting that it appears that the head portion of the light is a little bit longer in the comparison pictures. could it be a different optic? at the same time the outdoor beamshots above shows very similar beam profiles between the S1 and S1R.

thanks for the on/off test of the 900lm mode. call me crazy, but perhaps they should have just stuck with the 600 lumens of the S1. good thing the light is rechargable, someone using the light in bursts would be in for a rude awakening.

I am new to Olight and this will be my first purchase. I have a couple of questions.
I assume when the light is in 900 lumens mode it will run a minute or so then drop down to a lower setting like the S1 does, what Lumens will it then run at after dropping down from 900 lumens?
And if you don't use the IMR battery to hit the 900 lumens, what will the maximum lumens be with the CR123A or 16340?

The light steps down to High mode (300lumens) after around 0.6mins in my test. As you expect, 16340 will give you max. output.

yes and yes. :D

Thanks for the info!:)

I understand that the S1R does not comes with a charging dock, and that it has a new designed charging dock with 3 suction cups and a higher charging current as an optional accessory. Can one use the charging dock that comes with the S30RII and the S30R Javelot to charge the S1R?

I forwarded a similar question to Olight from a BLF member as I do not have the micro-dok, according to Olight's reply, yes, you can use the existing S30RII or S30R Javelot micro-dok to charge S1R.

Thanks for telling!:) Well then i know that my charging docks that came with the S30RII and S30R Javelot are working with the S1R.

In the Olight store, someone asked if you can use the S1R with the S30R II dock and Olight said yes. Someone else asked if you can use the S1R with the S15R dock and Olight said no. The S30R II and S15R docks look the same to me but I'm assuming they're not?

The S10R,S10R V2, S15R,S20R, and S30R share the same the same charging base. The S1R, S30R V2 share the same charing base. Yes, just like what you said, it looks like the same, but it is different indeed.

Question about the claim that the light gradually increases/decreases in brightness when you turn it on or off. Is this distracting, how long is the transition? Can the feature be turned off?

You can get 900 lumens without using the proprietary cell?

You can get Turbo (900 lumens) with a normal IMR 16340 or protected 16340 cell which has higher discharge current protection.

My sample has the feature that gradually decrease in brightness on High and Turbo mode when you turn the light off. It takes about 1 second (at the most) when you turn the light off.
If your previous mode is Moonlight or Low or Med. or High, a double quick click from Off will jump you to Turbo. And you will see the gradually increase in brightness as well.
It takes about <1 second (at the most) when you turn it on.
This feature isn't distract me. I think there's no way of turning off the feature.

Thank you for the info and fantastic review of the S1R! That's what I decided on and am expecting delivery in a couple of days.. although the new UI sounds more like what I was hoping for, really like the sound of a 600 lumen turbo added.

Sorry for second post, does Olight typically update UI on lights? How do they designate the 'updated' version, if I wanted to ensure to buy that one? Exciting light, more so with the potential update! Thanks again for the great job candle lamp!!

They will update S1R's UI. I'm not sure how they designate the new S1R. They will have a sale on the S1R and new S1R until the old one is sold out. :D

Yes we are calling this the Turbo S version. You double click to get to 600 lumens and then double click again to get to 900 lumens. this is similar to the X7 UI.
