Olight sr90

there weren't any reviews available when i received mine, haven't even read any until clicking on that little gem of a link Josh posted. for what its worth i think this light is amazing and don't envision ever selling it. this light is heavy...every bit as heavy as my halogen lights w/ SLA's. but after you turn it on then the weight ceases to be an issue. this light throws like hell...once i get a chance i'll try and get some shots of it lighting up the far shoreline. i already have a Tiablo A9 w/ aspheric head, DBS w/ asperic head and Stanely HID which can all show the far shoreline (1/3 to 2/3 of a mile) so long as there isn't a lot of humidity but not to the extent where i can really make out the contour of the water's edge. i think this light has a real shot of doing that. i've seen some comparisons being made of how this light performs against the HIDs seen in a lot of luxury cars now. generally the automotive HIDs have more output but i've not seen anything that can compare to this light terms of throw. sorry i don't have any more information to offer beyond this.

"let me google that for you"??? that is seriously some of the funniest poop i've seen this month. i'm definitely stealing that strategy.

Heh, that's the problem. I can only throw around links like that a couple of times in forums I join, then everyone starts doing it, and it's so common that it isn't even fun any more. Great site though, lots of useful info!

I too am wondering how this compares to the Stanley. The Stanley is cheaper, uglier, and poorly built in comparison, but it's a HID so it would be an interesting comparison. Of course, the SR90 has instant on while all HIDs have to warm out - a deal breaker for many.

well, if you haven't stumbled across this already, i did post some beam shots i took comparing the SR90 to some of my other lights, including the Stanley. unfortunately, i do not have much experience w/ photography so i pretty much left the camera to work on auto. the beam profiles in those shots are pretty close to what i saw w/ the naked eye. what doesn't translate onto my pics accurately is the intensity at the hotspot. it gets bleached out when the pic is taken. trust me, none of those other lights could touch the SR-90s intensity at the hotspot.

my bad....
to answer your first question: yes, you are right (there is NO contact switch).

i don't think its a mechanical switch at all really...its not a forward or reverse clicky. it feels more like a switch you might find on a TV remote.

its so powerful that there is actually recoil when you turn it on. they should offer an optional rifle stock.
