I'm about to give up, I spent the better part of the day searching
the internet for a vendor for HID bulbs.
All I can find are complete kits for cars.

I did find one guy from Japan selling on eBay and emailed him a
question. He has H7 4300K bulbs listed on eBay, but it doesn't say
how many watts! Are all H7 55W? I dont know a thing about these bulbs.

I want to replace the 35W bulb in my Black and Decker SLH100V with
a H7 4300K 55W bulb.

I'm sure when I finally find one, it will have more wires then I need, since
it's for a car, so I will have to figure out which wires to cut off.

Does anyone know where I can buy these, or am I better off waiting
for the guy in Japan to reply? :sigh:

I appreciate any help.

Glad to help!

Psychobunny, do you have a 50watt ballast installed on your BD spotlight? and were you overdriving the stock 35watt HID bulb you had?

If so what was the result? did the color temperature change with the overdrive? was it noticeably brighter than a regular 35watt driven at spec?

Thanks!

No, the bulb will only run at 35w. It's the color temp I want to
change.

Sorry, no link but check seller sharperdeal on ebay. I just bought two replacement lamps for the Sam's POB HID and they were BOTH $34 shipped. He has a variety.

What's all this "Sam's POB" about?
Is that the guy who did a Mag 2D mode w/ a Pelican 3854 and made
a video?
Is that the same guy?
Does he have a website?

The Power-on-Board brand HID light was carried by Sam's Club for awhile. It didn't sell in their stores so they shipped the inventory back to HQ where they've been selling it off on their website. The store price was around $100 but I've seen it on their website for half of that. There are many POB owners here including myself.

Oh, wow, I was way off!
I have one of those! Didnt get it at Sam's club though, in fact, I
could not find one anywhere for under $100.00.
I read about how folks were getting them for like 40 and 50$, but
I had no such luck.

P.S. anyway, the bulbs I got are ceramic base. Is that okay?

If you only want the color temperature changed don't use a 50W bulb if you have a 35W ballast.

What AlexGT said. Stick with the same wattage at the color temperature of your choice. A 55w bulb might not even illuminate on a 35w ballast, or it might oscillate on/off every few minutes as the lamp heats up and the ballast eventually starves off the arc current as it reaches it's limit.

I install a lot of HID conversions kit in vehicles, and from my experience I'd say get away from ebay kits. Most of them are OEM, with just a sticker with a unknow brand printed on it. The stated number is most time false, this is why you will hardly find 3k or 4k hid on ebay (if you buy a 12k kit which is supossed to be purple, it will look blueish instead)... Quality is about the cheapest, i've seen bulbs with dust inside them and some time a pair of hid will have different temp on each side

If you guys want really small ballast for a HID spotlight mod, the DDM 35w slim ballast hid kit will do best. The ballast is small enough to fit inside the battery compartment.

But if you're looking for a brighter kit, Apexcone 55w kit is the way to go. These two are very similar but the DDM slim ballast will tend to get hotter as a small box won't dissipate heat that good. Now remember a 8k 55w kit will look like 35w 6k, and 55w 6k will look like close to 35w 4k

Here is where to get em http://www.ddmtuning.com/hidkihidbuhi.html very reputable seller, offers lifetime guarantee on all the products. Sells bulb alone as well.

With 2 pairs of projector 4.3k 55w HID in my car, it is the brightest car in the road, most times.

Here is a pic of the DDM slim ballast kit:

Yikes! I'm glad you guys told me.
I was missinformed! :ohgeez:

Yay!! found a source for HID bulbs on eBay, and the guy is in
the good ol' USA!

I must say... what a scam. For the price you could get a HID kit including 2 bulb and 2 ballast. As I said before please stay away from ebay when looking for anything related to flashlight or parts (I've been through lot of ebay kits).

You can get a pair branded quality bulb for $25 + shipping here. You can search for apexcone or DDM brand at google.

My $0.02...
