I wonder


Common quark problems I've had:
Batteries backwards
Needed to clean the threads and contacts
Forgot how I programmed it
Batteries dead because I used to on a long trip and forgot about the trip
Dropped it down a long scaffolding and had to go get it

While you're speculating I'll share a quick story that isn't entirely off topic. I talked an online aquaintance into buying an E01 a while back which he was happy with. Recently I talked him into a Quark Mini 123. Anyway he got it, I asked him what he thought and he said "It's nice but the E01 is brighter..." It turned out he had no idea it had different modes, and thought the low was all it had. It could happen to anyone.

He probably forgot to RTM or put the batteries in backwards (or put in some depleted batteries) LOL

There, fixed that for ya.

+1 - Guilty. I typically use Rechargeables, but I figured I would "use up" the primaries. So I put them in, - complete panic for a few seconds when the light didn't work. Knew something was "up" when a voltmeter showed 0 volts on the brand new batteries.

Since it was fixed quickly and without incident we may assume it was user error or something trivial. A structural problem would be unlikely considering how quickly it was fixed, so it has to be output. Incorrectly inserted batteries would be difficult to fix, IIRC the Quark has no reverse polarity protection.

My guess is old batteries, or UI misunderstanding.

This is actually more fun than a normal troubleshooting thread, as we have no solution, no problem and only the fact that something was fixed to go from. Its something different to work from the end to figure out the beginning.
